Ian while we agree on most things you are wrong in your argument. You use the same argument Serbs use against the UDI saying that status must be mutually agreed upon. Read 1244 again and find that. What it says on status is that the international presence is to facilitate a political process for the determination of Kosovo's final status. According to UNSC, status could be imposed without agreement of either side. Would it be sustainable, probably not but mutual agreement is NOT a requirement by UNSC1244.
You notice that the ICJ never addressed the issue of the UDI being a violation of Serbia's constitution because it was irrelevant, it has no basis in international law.

I live to see this guy and his party wining the Serbian elections. At least he honestly proves that Serbia does not really want to be EU member. Why pretending like Tadic does?
As for saving "Kosovo inside Serbia" we all know that when Kosovo declared independence, Kostunica was Serbian PM. He could not do anything about that. So he will not be able to do anything about that in the future either.

The DSS will do so when the UK first and foremost violate it's own constitution.
(k. Prince, 26 March 2012 02:45)

We'd have to have a Constitution first. We don't have a written Constitution unlike most countries.

The Serbian constitution amuses me as it violates UNSCR 1244. UNSCR 1244 said that Kosovo's final status (as Kosovo according to UNSCR 1244 is only apart of FR-Yugoslavia for the indefinite future) must be mutually agreed by both parties. The government established in Pristina per UNSCR 1244 tried and tried to discuss and negotiate the final status of Kosovo and Belgrade did not care at all and just ignored the government in Pristina. Belgrade did not want to discuss the final status of Kosovo and was just happy with the then status quo. Anyway along comes 8 November 2006 and the National Assembly of Serbia unveils the Constitution of Serbia. The Constitution of Serbia states that it "defines the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija as the integral part of Serbia", meaning that Serbia violated UNSCR 1244 in November 2006 as Belgrade unilaterally finalised Kosovo's status without giving anyone in Kosovo a say. The referendum on adopting the Serbian Constitution was not even carried out in Kosovo. The people of Kosovo and the authorities in Kosovo had no say over Kosovo's final status, it was not mutually agreed by both parties which UNSCR 1244 clearly states the case must be. As Serbia violated UNSCR 1244 in November 2006 with their constitution which unilaterally finalised Kosovo's status, this gave Kosovo no option but to declare independence. They had tried to negotiate the future of Kosovo's status, but Belgrade ignored them; Belgrade unilaterally finalised Kosovo's status without giving a single person in Kosovo a say. There was no mutual agreement by both parties.

Which document does Serbia value more? The Serbian Constitution or UNSCR 1244?

And why was the referendum on the Serbian Constitution not carried out in Kosovo (even though apparently it seriously affects Kosovo)? And how come Serbia now things it has the power and the right to hold elections in Kosovo, even though they apparently didn't have the power and right to do so for the constitution referendum in 2006?

As usual Kostunica is bereft of any ideas as how to provide solutions to the problems faced by Serbia.

His do nothing attitude cemented today's unfavourable situation in Kosovo for the Serbian community living there. He signed the SAA agreement then opposed it. He was against the extradition of Milosevic, went along with it, then opposed it bitterly after the event.

He bangs on about the constitution like a far right US Republican. We are expected to care for a damn piece of paper like its the Bible? We are supposed to put his interpretation of God's law above democracy? We are supposed to remain neutral when today we barely have the forces to defend our own territory from an external threat? Does he think that we still have one of the largest armies in Europe?

I would vote for Dveri or LDP before voting for DSS. At least Dveri stands for something and they would do something - rather than just sit there bitterly complaining about this and that, but without the courage to actually do something. There is nothing worse than a political coward.

Maybe one day they come to terms to realise that in Balkans, there are currently functioning two Albanian states, regardless what this party leader thinks of.

But, as sj has proven with facts beyond reasonable doubt, the new superpowers of the world are China and Russia and America is broke and close to collapsing. How is it possible that in this beautiful reality pictured by sj about the status of world affairs 7+ million heroic Serbs would care what America has or has not decided ?! They did not care when America was a superpower, let alone in this new reality :)

Declare your neutrality over Kosovo then.

Declare that you neither support or oppose Kosovo.

Declare that you neither recognise Kosovo as an independent state or as apart of Serbia, but only as a disputed territory.

Lets see how 'neutral' he really is.

isn´t it interesting? he´s one of the few who are not trying to frighten the citizens of Serbia in their speeches. Mr.Tadic is constantly talking of an "important decision" and that Serbia´s future depends on the "right" choice, ...but Mr.Kostunica says right away what we do not need. and he is simply right with what he is saying.

@Agim Kelmendi: you are blinded by your naive "euphoria" ...but let the US-occupiers and their vassals aside, and then you will see there is not much left of your little freak-creation that you call "kosovaaah" =) the day will come, that you will realize that the US won´t stay forever, and Serbia is nearby just ready to liberate what is historically, morally and rightfully serbian.

Agim,

The Kosovo institutions closed by Serbian government in late 1980, have been open now by more than 10 years. Since February 2008 Kosovo has it's own diplomats that deal directly with other countries. Governments of Serbia have been trying to sabotage the developments and modernisations of this institutions but so far they have failed.

Words are really cheap in Belgrade circles nowadays and it's easy to claim anything, but the situation on the ground in Kosovo is completely different. There are pockets of places, mostly around the border with Serbia where organised crime flourish, but day by day the law and order is taking control.

Maybe one day they come to terms to realise that in Balkans, there are currently functioning two Albanian states, regardless what this party leader thinks of.

He noted that Serbia should not renounce the Free Trade Agreement with Russia, “that the other countries can only dream about”, for the sake of the EU integration.

Oh, yes, this great and oh-so important 'free trade agreement'. To mention it once again: Russia is not even in the Top5 of countries Serbia is exporting to. Romania is more important for the Serbian export trade - not to mention Montenegro: This country with about 650,000 inhabitants imports more from Serbia than Russia with 140+ million of people (of course I know Montenegro is a special case).

To sum it up: The FTA with the EU and with CEFTA is a dozen of times more important for Serbia.
