Yes, the problem is - this is the ONLY difference between "Bosnian" and "Serbian" and "Croatian" and "Montenegrin". Now if we remove the last difference, really NOTHING remains.
Because if we begin to claim the nationality based solely on faith - we go to the Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre.

a) You can try interpret the word "nationality" the way Russians do ( = "ETHINC BACKGROUND"). Here the only what you can grab is the faith + ekavian/ijekavian. For faith we have the "Saint Bartholomew" (so we can quickly dismiss it). Besides, one day some Novi Pazar resident wants to convert to Mormon faith. Than what? As for "ijekavian" versus "ekavian" - there the difference is way to small to make an other language out of it.
Hence "nationality" the way Russians like to interpret is dismissed.
b) You can try to interpret the word "nationality" the way Americans do (where you were born?). Novi Pazar is Serbia, so the way Americans like to interpret is also dismissed.

Here - by the way - the Russians are the most tolerant on the planet earth. There is a list of "ethnic background"-s allowed to chose and it's optional. The "elvian" is a VALID OPTION!!! No kidding.
OK, admit: Serbian law of ethnicity is not as tolerant as Russian because Serbs do not allow someone declare straight, he is an or Elf or a Hobbit. Russian law does.

Be sure to stay away from Czech speakers if you don't like the hard pronunciation - it sounds brutal (or like Americans trying to speak Russian), until you get used to it. They don't even distinguish between soft "i's." The entire question of Czech spelling comes down to remembering where to write i and where, y. They torture their kids with i/y spelling lists for years. (To a speaker of English this sounds hilarious, of course.) The mainstream media squelched news of the Bosnian Muslim and Croat concentration camps for Serbs which left the survivors with scars and often crippling disabilities. Those that show torture were the ethnic Serbs in the Bosnian Muslim concentration camps. The others tell stories but have no visible signs of torture.
They're residents of the Republic of Serbia, regardless of ethnicity, and as such, should be as loyal to Belgrade as Serbs, and other minorities in Serbia, such as Hungarians, Ukrainians, Slovaks, Roma etc.. They're certainly not, and never will be, residents of the "Republic of Sandzak" or should be considered as "Bosnian".

Why do a lot of Croats accuse Serbs of being warmongering and in favour of conflict in the Balkans, when most of the ideas for conflict are supported by Croats themselves? Why, exactly, should they try and separate from Serbia?
