Why should EU, US, Russia, China or anybody else abide by Serbia's legal system ?!!!
(icj1, 2 January 2011 07:10)
===================

Then why should Serbia abide by their system also?
Forget Hague. Give them the finger and let's all ignore each other.

There is such a thing as respect for the law irrespective where. Who cares about extradition treaties then. Let's just barge in, all guns blazing and settle the score according to the law of the mightiest army.
This sound fare to you?

Too bad there aren't any Arkans left in the Balkan region any more to bring Thaci to face real justice...
(MV, 31 December 2010)

Maybe you could send the guy who took care of Arkan instead or did he face "real Serbian justice" too?

In other words its not so much about whether the Serbian legal system is taken seriously. Its about whether there is political will in the EU (and US) to abide by that system.

It is nice to see how many Serbs seem to think that this unproven rumor washes away all the sins committed that were committed toward the Kosovo people. I know God is not going to reward.

Nobody is saying that any crime washes away another crimes. Where did you read that?
But you seem to think that just because Serbs committed crimes too that the Albanians should be let off the hook for their crimes, don't you?

Let all crimes be punished.

Not Albnian as well.

Thaci was/is a thug, but I don't think he was really involved in the kidnapped/prisoner Serbs and organ trafficking. One of Haradinaj's brothers or Ceku's I remember being fingered as heavily involved in the illegal prisons for Serb captives, some of which were later transferred to Albania, from whence they disappeared.

It speaks volumes that a laugh warrant is still in effect when its' president openly asked to speak with our PM Thaci just a week and a half ago.

I should imply that Serbia is desperate for these talks, but I won't.

TALKS AFTER THE INVESTIGATION!!!

Thanks

Talk about building a strawman - "if perpetrators are found they should be punished" - of course noone will argue against this. The real question is where is the evidence, the point being that there is none - even the Marty report struggled on this issue.

The whispering campaign is premised on the notion that if you repeat something often enough, it will resonate some sense of authenticty.

But you won't see this issue appear in a functional court of law because the rumours would be dismantled for the self-serving assignations they are - the Serb myth that Dubrovnik heritage sites were not bombed, and if they were, it was because the Croats were staging atatcks from there (Prosecutor v Strugar ICTY); or the Serb argument that Sarajevans bombed themselves re Markale massacre (Galenovic case and currently in the Karadzic case @ the ICTY).

It is this continual denial of war crimes, projection of responsibility and cultivation of a self-serving matyr complex that facilitated the Serbian state sponsored genocide in Bosnia. It is Serbs and Serbia's interest to promote transparency and to de-politices the judiciary, otherwise Serbia will not be allowed in the EU, and there will be plenty more humilitating episodes such as the Ganic extradition attempt, where a foreign court found the Serbian state prosecutor's request was politically motivated.

It is nice to see how many Albanians are hurrying to burden their souls by commenting and thus taking personal part and responsibility in the most horrible crimes ever committed.
I don't think that Allah will reward and justify that.

I envy Thaci, i always wanted an arrest warrant in Serbia. One of those things in life that are priceless. For all the rest is mastercard.

These guys are all a joke. They think that Thaci is afraid...and weakening its position during the expected negotiations which I believe it will a waste of time until Serbia recognises Kosovo independence.

Actually probably not better to have said that Thaci would be in deep trouble after these latest allegations from the COE if he was not Prime Minister elect and tried to travel abroad.

In other words its not so much about whether the Serbian legal system is taken seriously. Its about whether there is political will in the EU (and US) to abide by that system.

"“Genocide was added to the charges in 2003,” the justice minister repeated.

"if found, need to be appropriately punished,” the justice minister explained. "

The dirt on the wall and see whats sticks again.

Your revisionist attitudes about history not taking you far, is it?

Ps: Thaci has been to many places where the "warrant" could be used, but why are is everybody toying with Serbs as kids?

Interpol headquarters in Lyon refused to issue a red notice, saying that Thaci has diplomatic immunity. In Serbia, the Kosovo PM is wanted to serve a ten-year prison sentence for terrorism.

Interesting Interpol must recognize Kosovo as a "Head of State"
Also why would Serbia need an international warrant for someone walking freely in its own province??
At least Mladic is being semi-hidden from authorities but Thaci is walking the streets meeting with other heads of state. Why can the Serbian police not just show up at one of these public functions and arrest him.
Oh, thats right 1244 severed any control Serbia has over Kosovo territory.
