so venezuela had a reason, what ever that may be, to deny that us ambassador, but the us's reason is along the lines of "you blocked my guy so i'll block yours". wow, rank full of maturity; and that's the mentality of the sole superpower these days. i think we should all be concerned for ourselves when someone as infantile as that is in charge.
and i noticed that chavez should sue the would be ambassador for his slanderous statements about venezuela and it's military. luck he's got some sort of immunity i suppose.

I have to admit that many of us believed naively that Obama would make a difference by extending a hand of not exactly friendship but peaceful co-existence and mutual respect. Instead Obama has joined the the neo-con mantra and resembles George Bush who learned to speak coherently. The policies are unchanged. Leonides
Obama is so over his head in foreign policy, that he has no clue, and leaves matters to the old hack Clinton. Every policy that Obama has been unpopular both domestically and internationally. That is the problem when a scholar, that has an imagined agenda of what he would like tge world to look like, coupled with no leadership experience but a half term in the US Senate, is elected to run a country like the USA. As for the US State Dept., they only know how to bully and threaten, like the late Holbrooke. It is time to do a complete cleaning of US foreign policy, and throw the old fossils out. America must change with the times. It is not the power it once was, and it's threats will fall on deaf ears, except for subservient lapdogs like Georgia, Albania, and the like.

Earlier this week Larry Palmer was blocked from becoming US ambassador to Caracas.
The American diplomat accused the Venezuelan government of close ties to Colombian rebels and suggested that morale was low in Venezuela’s armed forces.

The statement by the "would be" US ambassador amounts nothing less than a blatant intervention in the internal affairs of a sovereign country.

It suffices to say that in view of the Ambassador's comments the Venezuelan foreign ministry asked the US state department for an explanation and was told that they reflected Washington's current thinking which prompted Chavez to cancel his appointment.

The US goverment past-time,since Chavez came to power,is to send the Murdoch media attack dogs to caricatute Chavez and to present the "all bad news, all the
time" as the Venezuaelan state of affairs. This of course and you will see examples coming below in nothing more than propaganda venom that has become quite common in US.

Between 2003-08 the economy grew as never before, poverty was cut by half, social spending per capita was tripled and free medical healthcare was expanded to everyone.

In 2009 Morgan Stanley was predicting a GDP reduction of 6.2%.In fact the economy grew by 5.2% and at the same time the country has adequate foreign exchange reserves, low foreign debt and also a current account surplus not to mention the $20billion credit facility from China.

The fact that Chavez has been as successful as he has both in Venezuela and elsewhere latin america causes blind hatred among those who believe that Latin America is the US's backyard and has a manifest destiny to rule over it.
