My 89 year old grandmother still thinks she's independent, but pees in her pants everyday. This reminds me of an independent Albanian Kosovo. You think you are independent, but others must take care of you. Are you truly independent, then? No, you are not! I know that these so-called talks, negotiations, whatever, are supposed to transpire between Belgrade and Pristina soon, but honestly folks, the Serbs have everything to offer Pristina, and Pristina has nothing to offer to Belgrade. I say, keep these Albanian separatists isolated, until they learn that it is not 1999 anymore, and NATO is not bombing Serbia anymore. Another thing, the US is considerably weaker today, than 11 years ago. Just ask the US Treasury, and what they owe China.
(winstonwinston, 12 October 2010 21:32)
My sympathies to your 89 year old grandmother, its a shame she is cursed with offspring that use her indignities for political purposes.
However, Serbia's claim that Kosovo is Serbia is similar to a person whose house has been foreclosed on: They can't live in it, remodel it, rent it out, nor even visit it without permission.

now now, no need to create fiction "until there is a mutual agreed deal" is simple wishfull thinking.

unmik is redundant, there is nothing that it "governs" other than to hover about serb areas to keep the locals in check, and has long since moved away from executive status, the remnants of it today owes its existance today due to the wonderfull world of international politics.

Why are all the Albanians so anti-UNMIK? You wanted the UN in back in 1999. The deal was: the UN will govern this Serbian province until there is a mutual agreed deal. There is not such a deal. So UN is still governing Kosovo.

Why is that so hard to accept?
(Ron, 13 October 2010 05:32)

Albanians anti-UNMIK ?!!! Kosovo is probably the strongest supporter of Resolution 1244 as it is the only country that I know of that mandates the respect for it in its declaration of independence and Constitution. It would be illegal in Kosovo to act inconsistently with resolution 1244. Not sure about Serbia.

So, yes, Kosovo wanted resolution 1244 in 1999 and strongly confirmed its support for resolution 1244 in its declaration of independence in 2008 and is legally bound by it. However I do agree that some Kosovo citizens did not vote in favor of the above, but those were of Serb ethnicity, not Albanian. And I don't see why Kosovo should be against resolution 1244 since Kosovo's declaration of independence does not violate it.

Too bad none of it will have an impact on Kosovo's trade. RUNMIK can chit chat with Serbia how they will trade easier, drugs in exchange for cheap petrol.

Yes, UNMIK will likely be around for awhile as they try to cling to some semblence of relevence.

But, I find serb apologists apparent happiness at this quite amusing.

be it kosovo alone or unmik/kosovo chairing it... What is definite is that it is not Serbia.

(winstonwinston, 12 October 2010 21:32)

You provided a perfect example. Your 89 year old grandmother is not independent because she has to do what you tell her to do. Kosovo is independent because UNMIK can’t tell Kosovo what to do. The last time UNMIK did that was some three years ago.

(winstonwinston, 12 October 2010 21:32)

Well, assuming you are correct, Albanians in Kosovo appear to be satisfied with this status of affairs. We can label it as you want if that makes you happy, too. Do you want to call it not-independent ? That’s fine. We can call it like that. What I care is that the Serbian government does not have any power on what I do in Kosovo. I don’t care about labeling – anyway you want to label it’s fine with me; I care about the reality. If you ask for the Serbian government to have the power on what I do in Kosovo, then I’ll not agree with you.

I say, keep these Albanian separatists isolated, until they learn that it is not 1999 anymore, and NATO is not bombing Serbia anymore.
(winstonwinston, 12 October 2010 21:32)

And with that you are going to make Albanians love Serbia so they decide to form a common state with Serbs ?!!! If we were to make an analogy, this would be similar to a guy who likes a girl who hates him, so he isolates the girl somewhere until she accepts to marry him. Now, if you are a psycho, you may well think that this is the appropriate way to achieve a marriage. But that’s not how sane people do it.

Another thing, the US is considerably weaker today, than 11 years ago. Just ask the US Treasury, and what they owe China.
(winstonwinston, 12 October 2010 21:32)

Yes, and also ask China about the risk-adjusted returns it gets from investing in US treasuries….

Guys the world is business; it’s not based on fanaticism. You take a loan from a bank, does that mean you are weak… No, to the contrary, it is a sign of strength otherwise the bank would have never given you the loan. Also, the fact that China has invested huge amounts in US treasuries indicates (assuming that China is not stupid) that the credit strength of the US is one of the best. Why China doesn’t invest in Serb government debt (proportionally) the same way it invests in US debt, even though it is a Serbia’s friend (or so we have heard). Because the world is business, and friendship and money don’t mix together and Serbia’s credit strength is not the same as the US. US and China may have different ideologies, but they are economic and financial partners. To the contrary of Serbia, they are not fixated on ancient battles and myths, but they look forward, and that’s why they are much more advanced today than Serbia is.

As far as I'm concerned Kosovo is not part of this organization. When UNMIK joined, it was before the DOI in 2008. I think it's time to kick these people out of here.

Temp Kosovo Albanian President Raznici, and FM Hyeni, where are all those UN member nations that you promised would recognize an independent Albanian Kosovo after the ICJ ruling? Did you guys make this stuff up? Come on now, fess-up, was this a PR ploy for local Pristina Albanian consumption? You guys have been wrong, or lying, so often, that the Guinness book of word records may come and visit you - to see if you have broken the modern age record for fabrication. But what can you expect, a nation that tried to achieve independence through lies, and war-mongering Western support, will never achieve its ambitions, because lies will eventually be exposed. Albanian independent Kosovo is built on a house of lies and straws, weak - go to Albania, if you want your own land, Kosovo's Albanians. Long live Serbian Kosovo, our land, our history. Too much Serbian blood has been spilt there, to allow an intruder like the Albanians to rule there.

;-) 122 countries in the world says what the ICJ said. That the declaration (to declare, to say) was not forbidden. But to take a bit of a sovereign country and to make this bit independent, thats something completely different as you will see.
(Staff, 12 October 2010 16:30)
I would say that 122 countries would not be happy with someone speaking for them, especially someone who has been wrong way too many times. The majority of these countries have not voiced a position, and the lack of a declared position does not automatically default to Serbia.
By the way where are those rescinded recognitions that were suppose to happen within a month of the ICJ opinion??

They hope, they lie, they persuade themself, but only truth matters. All know (even US, why would H Clinton otherwise come to the Balkans) that Kosovo is a Serbian southern province and it will continue to be so until UNSC says otherwise. I dont get why its so hard to understand. I have followed this spectacle for 11 years and cross my heart, Kosovo has never been this far from independence. Again to Serbs: Take it easy, wait for negotiations that the Kosovo side is so reluctant for. (I wonder why) ;-) 122 countries in the world says what the ICJ said. OK, so that clears it up. Since U is next after Serbia, we now know it is in fact "UNMIK-Kosovo" and not "Kosovo-UNMIK" or "Kosova" as some have previously stated.

In future, can everyone please refer to "Kosova" by its correct temporary name, that being UNMIK-Kosovo or by its correct historical name Kosovo i Metohija (KiM)? Thank you.

That the declaration (to declare, to say) was not forbidden. But to take a bit of a sovereign country and to make this bit independent, thats something completely different as you will see.

HAHAHAHA - your weakness is showing. The dollar is falling through the floor and the world will soon tire of you and your phoney "state".

UNMIK only operates in Northern Kosovo and I believe North Kosovo should rejoin Serbia. If Serbia is smart enough, they can keep what they can of Kosovo aka the North.

Why are all the Albanians so anti-UNMIK? You wanted the UN in back in 1999. The deal was: the UN will govern this Serbian province until there is a mutual agreed deal. There is not such a deal. So UN is still governing Kosovo.

Why is that so hard to accept?

Too bad none of it will have an impact on Kosovo's trade. RUNMIK can chit chat with Serbia how they will trade easier, drugs in exchange for cheap petrol.

Too bad? Are you saying you are expecting Serb forces in Pristina in the near future?

@ron

now now, no need to create fiction "until there is a mutual agreed deal" is simple wishfull thinking.

unmik is redundant, there is nothing that it "governs" other than to hover about serb areas to keep the locals in check, and has long since moved away from executive status, the remnants of it today owes its existance today due to the wonderfull world of international politics.
