Joining the EU is a redicolously outdated idea which only some pressured vichy-countries in eastern europe holds as a holy grail, since this corrupt union is about to implode. We have seen it in many cases but Greece is definitly among the most notorious "birth pangs" of that development. It is sad to see a dejected and paralyzed Serbia sitting on her hands waiting for a fairy tale to come true. Serbia should immediatly free themselves from a "government" that only serves the interests of anti-serbian aggressors and take her place among the free and sovereign nations of the world.

The 'West' called recognition of Kosovo's 'independence' "unique" and not a precedent. Since then we have had two other "unique" and non precedents with South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

It seems as if the 'West' has suddenly discovered that the tennis ball does indeed come back over the net towards them and boy were they surprised!

As for joining the EU, they will bend the rules as usual, whatever they say. Berlin wants to protect its substantial (and future) investments in Serbia. China, Russia, South Korea and many non western states are lining up to invest. This is business NOT going to Germany and the germans do notice. After all, if the Germans are so ideologically linked to the West, then why do they continue to invest in the great and evil russia and partake in north stream (probably south stream in future too - regardless of bs news reports).

Capitalists believe in the market and thus that under the control of Belgrade is much larger than.... Forget about Ro & Bg who now constitute by far the largest base of mafia in the Balkans since Serbia smashed its own.

Brussels is running out of time, not Serbia. The time for decisions is coming.

Why would the UN and Nato create a headache for themselves, on ICJ ruling against Kosovo s independence, when 90 percent of the progressive and important countries of the world, have recognized Kosovo as an Independent Country. Who would they rely on to solve issues of Kosovo? On: Romania, Russia, Libya, China etc. These countries that oppose Kosovo Independence for no good reason, these countries struggle to feed their own people.
Cheers..

Indeed: Cyprus = Serbia. Kosovo = Northern Cyprus.

Glad we agree on this!

I think that most have realized that, from all sides. I have stated only a few weeks ago that no matter side you take, those of the 22 EU countries, or of those 5, neither Serbia nor Kosovo will be able to join since this disput violates clearly the EU accession conditions, wheter you regard as Kosovo independent (then neighborly relation) or part of Serbia (no 2nd Cyprus). It is only logical to state this problem from the point of view from those 5 countries since they don't openly say that, of course, especially the 1/2 country Cyprus. Only Germany and the Netherlands made some clearer statements, unofficially, telling that Serbia's accession will not approved in the current state.

However, and here comes the dilemma for Serbia, it is in Belgrade's interest to solve that Kosovo issue no matter how. Otherwise Tadic, Jeremic and Co can stop lying to the people, because there is no EU as long as not settled with Prishtina.

"If the ICJ decision were to establish a precedent, new countries would spring all over the world, which would destabilize many regions," Tadić told reporters in Zrenjanin. "

-- We heard this so many times when Kosova declared its independence and nothing happened. The Serb camp needs to cheer up a little bit; since the world has not been following their gloom and doom scenarios. No matter how much lies and brainwashing Tadic feeds to his people, Armageddon is not coming, either way ICJ goes.
Its as if our side claimed that an ICJ verdict on Serbia's side legitimizes ethnic cleansing and War Crimes all over the world; and that there will be many countries which would have the legal right to kill, exterminate, and ethnically cleanse within their borders, since ICJ will defend their borders. Hence many regions would be destabilized. However this again is a sui-generis case because not all countries act the way Serbia acts.

kalifornia,

Your statement, just as the person's opinion you are criticizing, is only an opinion, and not even your own. What evidence do you have that makes your opinion a fact.

Do you really think that your grade school tactics of twisting the truth will work on intelligent and educated people!

Anyway, president tadic stated, "If the ICJ decision were to establish a precedent, new countries would spring all over the world, which would destabilize many regions". That is fact. Wonder how the Kosovo backers are going to get around that one? And please, none of that "special case" BS. All conflicts, all situations, in every country, are special cases. Just ask the people involved.
