I'm sorry, but we need to get into perspective.

People like Cheney (years ago), inclucing contractors, advisers, BP etc... have already been working there for years...
The fact that so much iron clad influence is being all but forgotten, leads me to believe that US investment in the region has already been lost.

I read the article, as if Washington actually has a say anymore.
I may be wrong, but I believe the day that Russian tanks rolled into Georgia, was the day US influence in the region was truly revealed.

Couple that with week leadership in Azerbaijan, i can see a total shift to Russian influence..Especially if she gets cozier with the rest of Europe.

Whatever the scenario, i don't have a crystal ball, but i think the article would better serve if stuck to the REAL interest and importance in the region..
