i find it amusing how adment K-albanians are about not taking anyhting to the negotiating table. You people obviously only remember such things that you read that are in your favor to some point.

The pseudo-Kosovo government that has been bread from western influence at no point borught anyhting to the negotiating table! the only reason the Albanians are so scared of negotiating (discussing) the current circumstances is becasue they know the power that has been given to them wont last... Kosovo is part of Serbia- it will never become its own independant state or a memeber of UN.

And just a note: the ICJ rulement will have some decision- at least to those who do believe in true international law and justice.

Spain ambasador has absolutely no right to speak what ICJ ruling will be.
Ambasador if wants to please Serbia must be another way by bringing more Spanish investments to serbia reather speaking something moslikely untrue and fuling more tensions as they are now.

Dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade would be healthy for some of the unresolved issues concerning minorities. However, I doubt there will ever be a dialogue concerning the Status. It appears that Kosovo has been already recognised by some of the most influential countries in the world. So, those countries including USA would be mocking themselves if they allowed new status negociation to take place. I´d say it´s a wishful thinking on Serbia´s side.

EA:
Serbia is moving forward toward EU w status quo, with a firm grasp of reality on the ground- control of Mitrovica and legal title to all of Kosovo (while the EU and US dump $ into the region). More than autonomy, less than independence. In fact, it seems it is Thaci and co who are not able to move on, as evidenced in their attempts to subjegate the Serbs north of Ibar.
I for one do not understand why Serbia is pushing for status talks. That issue was settled, albeit unilaterally, when Serbia confirmed in its Constitution that Kosovo is its inaliable part. I hear that Serbia is working on a plan to reintegrate those South of the Ibar with the rest of Serbia.

I just find it a pure speculation from those polititians who keep on talking about further "negotiations" regarding the Kosova/o's status. The status chapter is closed. Serbia has to learn to move forward.

It is clear that Spain would have recognized Kosovo in a heartbeat if Spain didn't have it's issues with the basque region.

It's is clear that Spain does not care about Kosovo being the "Jerusalem" of Serbia, it rather focuses on a peacefull way to close this issue once and forever.

Clearly Spain's "NO" will not be sustainable in the long run. As time works on the side of stability, once this is achieved, Spain will recognize.

Johny,

You are right. For some time Spain of Zapatero is doing everything to please Russia.
It acts a little bit like some ex-satellites of Russia used to act. Is the economic situation so desperate in Spain that this country tries to position itself in expectation of Russian help?

robby

It´s a shame, if you need a court decision for a dialog. It should be sure at all.

Johny, the relation between Spain and US doesn´t depend on the Balkan is not SO important

This Spaniard clearly is unaware of reality. UN membership does not constitute state-hood, it is only an achievement. Now he says Kosovo has only been recognized by a third of the "international community", he is referencing only the UN member states. This is not the case, Kosova has joined IMF & WB, which combined it was recognized by 109 of the 192 countries...well over 51% of the world.

Furthermore, Kosova is recognized by the most affluent and influencing countries in the world. There have been few ardent anti-supporters; primarily Russia, Spain, Slovakia, and China.

Other countries which have not recognized have held of their recognitions until the ICJ ruling...not because they refuse to do so.

This propaganda concept that the Government of Kosovo will return back to the negotiation table with Serbia over it's status is simply wishful thinking. After the ICJ ruling I expect more recognitions. Plus, Russia has duped the Serbian people and will drop them as soon as a better offer is on the table.

Why would PM Thaci or any Prishtina politician negotiate from the Clowns in Belgrade who continually call them "terrorists" and put them in Interpol. That's just absurd.

Expect Spain to be spanked soon. It was ignored by the US administration last week where the US didn't take part in an EU-US summit organized by the Spanish presidency. Spain's foreign policy is at odds with that of most of western countries and more akin to Russia's. Such things do not go unnoticed.

P.S The ambiguous ICJ decision that is the most likely outcome will only leave things as they are. There will be no windows or doors.
