Agree. I seriously doubt that Tadic would be so stupid as to sign on to NATO knowing how his country feels about it.

I think that cacak was talking hypothetically. If Tadic was to do something as insane as this then he might be facing a very angry country wanting to throw him out of the office.

I seriously doubt he meant this as a realistic scenario. I could be wrong though.

What does it mean to be part of NATO and should Serbia join?
The only country that matters in NATO is the US because it has the equipment to act unilaterally. All the others are just like pieces in jig saw puzzle and are totally incapable of acting alone – the US is not stupid just in case one NATO member decides that it’s better than the master.
The most important element of joining NATO is the purchase of “superior” equipment – you know the ones manufactured in an atmosphere of democracy and freedom. Plus it’s much more expensive and that’s where the western military industrial complexes come into play. Regardless of whether a country has superior military equipment prior to joining NATO it must buy democratically manufactured goods. So that’s another burden on Eastern European nations which are already suffering from excessive poverty.
Regardless of what is portrayed in the media, NATO is not a democracy. In fact it is only an instrument to extend and consolidate US influence in the world. On the other side of the coin, NATO has proven to be just as useless as the old Warsaw Pact – I remember reading in a US magazine many years ago where an anonymous Russian official stated to a journalist that if there was a conflict, Russia would have to carry the major burden, knowing that other members may not even send troops. Sounds familiar??? Afghanistan and Iraq????
So what advantage is there for Serbia joining NATO? None except this is a backdoor Rambouillet agreement – capitulation to the US. Once a member NATO troops (US) can move around Serbia with impunity and any damage done would have to be paid for by the Serbian Government or in other words the Serbian tax payer – read up on how highly regarded US troops are held in Japan or more particularly on the Japanese island of Okinawa. I have South Korean neighbors and they do not particularly like the US either and state that the South Korean Government is a puppet of the US and most of the trouble is caused by the US.
I doubt that Serbians are ready to join a local club with the US let alone NATO. This issue is raised by a paid employee on behalf of the master because the US is desperate for more members to join the fighting for freedom and democracy in Afghanistan. Serbia’s NATO membership will be raised often to “test” the waters so to speak.
Another more important, but not openly discussed matter involves Serbia being the key transport corridor from the west to the east – during the sanctions of the 1990s the west had to travel around Serbia, taking 7 days from Berlin to Istanbul when it would take only 3 via Serbia.
You get Croats and Albanians making all sorts of bold statements about NATO surrounding Serbia and to be careful and watch its step. If Serbs managed to hold back the US for so such a long time in the 1990s, the 21 century is another story altogether. “1999 will never be repeated because we are not in that position” - this comes from a US official.

As far as Russians asking permission from NATO members to fly over their territory, there are international agreements and aircraft move freely. You also have to remember that commercial airlines fly over Russia to avoid certain “hot” spots in the middle east. In addition, NATO moves supplies and equipment through Russian territory and airspace for its troops in Afghanistan.

Cacak give us a break. If you want to plan a coup or a civil war you might want to rephrase CCCC.

Unity is not advocating war on your own democratically elected government, its closer to treason actually.

Besides, there is no need for a referendum on an issue we all agree with. There is also no need to threaten revolution.

CCCC,

So you will again play the tough guys in a state of war situation? It will be your internal affair. Nobody will stop you in your choice. But if as a result your economy will tank and your living standard will become the lowest in Europe do not blame anybody but yourselves.

'eventually what will happen is that serbs will retake thier government from foreign agents. then serbs will invite russian federation "PEACEKEEPERS" inside to help create a trip wire ... '

How are they going to get there - by asking Nato members very nicely for permission to cross their air space?

cacak

The reason the occupied government in belgrade does not want a referendum on nato memebership is because they are keenly aware that the overwhelming majority of serbs would vote against it. they also realize that if nato memebership were forced upon the serbs a terrible and dangerous scenario would unfold. regular serb, majority serbs, would refuse service in the serb military if it were tied to nato. then paralell defense institutions would form and civil war could erupt.

eventually what will happen is that serbs will retake thier government from foreign agents. then serbs will invite russian federation "PEACEKEEPERS" inside to help create a trip wire so that the aggreesors in the west and thier lap dogs in the balkans would face a stiff and resolute defense from FREE SERBIA.

'The proof:Washington didn`t give a damn about the Polish or Czech opinion regarding the missile shield.
The simply scrapped it without informing these "big powers"...

(CG, 23 January 2010 15:50) '

One of the problems with having a free press is that papers are sometimes too eager to break a story. The Wall St. Journal (no friend of any Democratic administration) published this story as soon as it learned of it, and the government was left trying to contact Poland and the CR late at night. Embarrassing, to say the least. But - Poland got Patriot missiles, which it views as a guarantee of protection (if U.S. troops are killed in an attack on Poland, it'll be "we're all Poles now"). And the CR has a wish coming - maybe the European West Point?

So what if Croatia and Albania are in NATO?
They are too weak to do anything by themselves against Serbia,if the American power declines further NATO will collapse from inside.
Of course weak nations like Albanians,Czechs,Poles act like the big tough guys that need to be heard when a decision is made in Washington.Laughable!
The proof:Washington didn`t give a damn about the Polish or Czech opinion regarding the missile shield.

Serbia should stay out and be neutral and follow a policy of balance between the West and Russia...
Play them out against each other,we have a vital geographic position in the Balkans and we need to monetize it...

Referendum is needed and is needed very much now.
Otherwise Sutanovac and his boss Tadic are having free hands to sign extra deals with Nato any time and hidden with semi-political secrecy without asking the will of the Serbians...
Best example was Draskovic, when FM, who found himself relevant to sign tHe deal with Nato and allow them to cross our territory whenever they want!
Madness! Somebody gave him authority to do so? Nope, for sure.
Is he offered maybe some attractive promises for that "little favor" to Nato? Very much probably, yes.

Referendum now and scraping of all previous undemocratically and illegally signed deals with NATO.
