The witness also made the claim before the court that "about 140,000 Serbs left Croatia".

According to him, this did not amount to ethnic cleansing "because the Croatian authorities did not intend to expel the Serbian population from Knin region nor it was the goal of Operation Storm".

Then, Mr. Granic, explain this video (fimled in 1990 before the war even started): http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7456935228727451929#

Why is Spegelj (Croatia's Defense Minister) on the tape saying, "We are going to use all resources. We're even going to use weapons. Knin we're going to resolve in the same way. We are going to slaughter everyone"

And why is Croatian interior minister Boljkovac seen on the tape saying, "Serbs in Croatia will never be there again for as long as we are there and we hope until now too their supremacy is a thing of the past. Their Knin will never be Knin again. We are going to enter Knin too. Knin has to disappear as Knin. All Croats should bear this in mind and we are going to create a state created at all costs."

Also explain the remarks that Tudjman and Gotovina make in this transcript just before Operation Storm:
http://www.slobodan-milosevic.org/documents/tudjman_transcript.pdf

"We have to inflict such blows that the Serbs will to all practical purposes disappear." - Tudjman before Operation Storm.

Gotovina replies, "if we continue this pressure, probably for some time to come, there won't be so many (Serbian) civilians just those who have to stay, who have no possibility of leaving"

Their remarks are analyzed further at:
http://www.slobodan-milosevic.org/news/smorg042409.html

What I want to know is why B-92 takes such a neutral approach to this testimony when Granic is so obviously lying.

Like all fool that don’t see change coming and heed the signs that a new order is on its way, Granic is ignorant and backward that have all their lives lived in the shadows of Serbia and its rich history. Croats have been making up their history in an effort to prove to the world their greatness and stand tall amongst its peers – I recently listened to a Croat program where they were relaying their history and how they had a kingdom stretching from Dalmatia to Poland and all in between. Too bad no one else has ever heard of this kingdom.
Does Granic think that the Serbs left voluntarily? Yes, they left after being shot at and others murder.
However, you need to see why Granic has made this statement; the Croats tied their wagon to the train. They stood with the US/EU thinking they were going to pour billions and everyone would wonderful lives, but all they got was crumbs in the form of topping up of their annual budget and now they have missed out on the gas pipeline gravy train, once again backing the wrong side. Even the Slovens could see what was happening, but now that all is too late and what you see is bitterness and nothing else.
All I can say is for Serbs to be patient and in a short time Croatia will beg Serbs to return because that will be the last desperate act to halt the transfer of land to Serbia as part of the compensation. I am not joking and neither am I making this up. Just as I said that Kosovo is going nowhere fast, the staus quo will be kept in Bosnia so my statement about Croatia applies. I enjoy seeing the likes of Granic and Mesic squirm and in the process spew vile comments.

""The ones who left were those who did not accept the Croatian state and those who were afraid of revenge because they participated in crimes… The Serbian population was indoctrinated by Belgrade ever since Slobodan Milošević came to power,” said the former foreign policy chief of the Franjo Tuđman regime."

-- The worst thing about this pathetic excuse for an argument is not that this is the actual defense used by three Croatian war criminals, but this type of historical revisionism is taught in Croatian schools to a new generation of Croatian children with no knowledge of the war. 250,000+ Serbs kicked out and they were all "guilty"? Does this guy have concept of war refugees throughout history?

Just in case anyone is confused about Tudjman's plans, here's the transcript as published by Feral Tribune:

Meanwhile, here is what Croatian PsyOps did to help the Serbs stay (also published in Feral):

Mysterious Flier 'Spearheads' Storm:
http://www.ex-yupress.com/feral/feral156.html

"Two Chains
Thus, it can be concluded that even in the "propaganda" part of he war there was a double chain of "command". One, the official one, went via the Croatian TV and broadcast Tudman's message to the Serb civilians to stay in their homes, while the other, unofficial and secret chain of command "ordered" the Serb civilians via fliers to pull out of Krajina scaring them with the arrival of "the Ustashe army". Inasmuch as in the "ordinary" war the Croat leaders on several occasions exceeded the necessary self defense, it is obviously to be expected that they did the same in the conduct of "special" warfare.

Instead of causing panic and confusion in the Serb units by propaganda-psychological tricks, which is allowed by the Geneva Conventions under the category of "wartime trickery", panic and confusion were provoked among the civilians in order to prompt them to run en masse. And that mode of special warfare could clearly be named special ethnic cleansing."

Before any of this happened, the JNA and serb paramilitaries had expelled or killed the Croatian inhabitants of Krjainja. Was that not genocide?

Anyway, I hope the serbs do return. Most of them are good people.

He can spin it anyway he likes - the result was ethnic cleasning. He knows full well what Croatian Serbs thought of that Craotian government and he knew full well that the Croatian government wanted them to think that, so that they would leave.

Just become one or two Serbs advised their 'side' to leave does not mean its not ethnic cleansing.

Its irrelevant who asks / tells you to leave. The point is you stay if you are safe, you leave if you will be murdered. Having said that if the defence could prove that Serbs threatened other Serbs that unless they left other Serbs would hurt them, that is a different matter. But to my knowledge nobody has claimed this.

People do not leave their homes just like that. Perhaps the Croatian Serbs were wrong to persue the goals they did in the 90's, perhaps not.
The point is that this is not related to ethnic cleansing, as some Croats seem to confuse.

Dragan - "Operation Storm was US sponsored genocide" And this is precisely why any of the defendants will receive a slap on the wrist, a couple of years at most, and that's assuming they are found guilty. there's a good chance they will be found innocent simply because of their association with the US and EU.

this is Naser Oric, part II. only the Serbs committed heinous crimes!

Hard to imagine the HV going into a operation like that already knowing who had committed crimes and who hadn't. I'm sure in the mind of the average Croatian soldier, just about any Serb of military age was a potential criminal. Anyway, I don't think anyone was really thinking in those terms. Hatred by that point was so high that Croats generally hated Serbs and vice versa.

As for US sponsorship, I would argue that this was all part of the so-called "global solution" for ending hostilities across Croatia and Bosnia. In return for partnering up with the Muslims in BiH, the Croats would get US and German help in re-taking Krajina. They'd also get to keep Herceg Bosna in the form of an unofficial statelet in the Federation. Meanwhile, the Serbs would get eastern Bosnia and Hercegovina along with the Banja Luka region and a slice of Brcko. This, I suspect, is why Mladic so confidently cleared out Srebrenica.

My family did not leave because they commited any crimes, they were fearful of what was going to and did happen.

The witness is claiming 140,000 left, did they all commit crimes?

All I can say is "wow"...
