“the arabs have enough land and israel is only a small country the palestinians can go to another arab country (dan-ch, 16 November 2009 22:35)”.

So you support ethnically cleansing all of Israel and Palestine? That’s a pretty hard core attitude, wow. Let them eat cake while you’re at it.

Secondly, the Palestinians have no country to call their own, Albanians have 2 and soon 3.

Calling all the Muslims of the Middle East Arabs is incorrect. The Palestinians are much more closely related to the Israeli’s than they are to Iranians (Indo-Europeans) for example.

If you are to group people so broadly, then we’re all simply Europeans, and again, using your logic, why would the people of Kosovo need another country? Europeans already have enough land.

I also don’t think you understand the fate of the millions of ethnically cleansed Palestinians across the Middle East. They essentially have no rights and are a people without a country, they aren’t allowed to become citizens in many of the countries they live in and they have no right to return to the homes in Israel that they were cleansed out of.

Where is the West’s support for “Democracy” and human rights? The situation for those people is dire.

Can you imagine if we Serbians kept Albanians in camps for 40 years, regularly bulldozed their homes, machine gunned down children for throwing rocks at tanks, and used cluster bombs in civilian areas? Yes, I acknowledge that Serbians did commit crimes against Albanians, and yes homes were destroyed, but its not at all like how the Palestinians live, and its been like that for them for at least 40 years, and for some of the exiles its been 60 years.

“whats the problem here? (dan-ch, 16 November 2009 22:35)”

The “Problem” Dan is its completely inhumane and cruel to deny a people the right to be a citizen of a county, ANY country, to ethnically cleanse them from their ancestral lands for over 60 years, and to force most of those left behind to live in subhuman conditions in camps without even the right to vote in a “supposedly” democratic Western country.

Israel certainly has a right to exist and Europe owes her their support after what happened in WWII. However, just as Israeli’s have a right to belong to a country, so do the Palestinians. I can sort of understand what happened in the past. The Jews had just suffered terribly and were nearly wiped off the face of the planet. WWII was a recent memory and they reacted in the strongest possible terms to any perceived threat to their existence (Much like we Serbs maybe over reacted when the Tudjman’s Neo-Ustashe regime came to power in Croatia – He “only” wanted to ethnically cleanse us, not kill us).

Anyways, I actually agree with Amer for the most part, clearly neither the Palestinians nor the Israeli’s are going to behave on their own.

I also think the obvious solution for the City of Jerusalem (currently split down the middle) is to move the UN Headquarters there and make it the Global Capital. That City is important and holy for 3 of the world’s major religions, it would make a great Capital for the Globe, and would put an end to people fighting over it once and for all.

You’d think we’d learn our lesson after the 1st few thousand years?!?!?!?!

“Senator Joseph Lieberman (CT), an independent, said "an essentially unilateral" declaration of statehood was the one thing that would not move the stalled peace process forward.
"I hope and presume that the United States would veto such a move if it ever came to the Security Council," Lieberman said. The only way to end the [*BALKANS*] conflict was an agreement reached through bilateral negotiations, he added.
The [*ALBANIANS*] should "give the new government of [*SERBIA*] an opportunity at the negotiating table," he said.””
Very odd comparison to how the US handled Kosovo isn’t it?

whats the problem here?

Senator Joseph Lieberman is a good man and many others probaly 99% of jewish senators in US are the biggest albanian supporters so i support them 100% the arabs have enough land and israel is only a small country the palestinians can go to another arab country

If the Palestinians are willing to allow the UN to take over their administration and monitor their military and police until a settlement is reached it might actually work. The international community did better in Kosovo than it did in Bosnia, maybe it will do better in Palestine than in Kosovo. You have to assume they've learned something.

(nikshala, 16 November 2009 14:35)”

Probably the biggest factor.

The whole world and especiallythe west (mainly US) should be ashamed to let Israel get away with this.

Yes, they have the right to defend themselves, but not to oppress others which is what they are doing.

How can Isreal talk of peace when when at the same time they keep occupying more land? Just because some land 'belonged' to them like 2000 years ago, does not be that they have the right to evict people from their homes today.

The Palestinian / Isreal problem is one of the main factors contributing to global terrorism.

From what I read this is starting to be a headache for the US administration. Apparently we have both Clintons running around to stop Palestinians from declaring their UDI – I wonder how much effort it will take to explain that famous ‘uniqueness’ of Kosovo case, and that it doesn’t apply to all - it appears many people don’t seem to get it…

Go Palestine!! 20 years of sham "talks" while Israel intensifies its occupation, dispossession and colonisation is long long long enough.
