"Still, that does not excuse all that hanging with extreme right / ustasa diaspora and HDZ in the 90's"

Mesic broke with Tudjman precisely over the latter's increasing alliance with the Ustase.

Some of the other comments about Mesic are somewhat ignorant. His family were murdered by Ustase. The fact that he was part of the movement for Croatian independence in 1991 in now way should mean he should be associated by posters here with the Ustase.

And even the 1971 movement was not specifically right-wing anti-communist as one poster claimed, but Croatian autonomist, led by sections of the Croatian League of Communists.

One says we're already in recovery the other that its only just begun.
Depends on what we're talking about of course but in the Croatian case this is the first summer tourist season which will be seriously affected.

And you have to like Mesic's comments on a Ustasa orgy. He may be an idiot on other issues but he is one of the few politicians in Croatian with the guts to face down the extreme right wing.

Still, that does not excuse all that hanging with extreme right / ustasa diaspora and HDZ in the 90's.

It's Tsunami has barely got going. Croatia and especially Montenegro, are going to be hit hard. Europeans are more likely to holiday in cheaper destinations such as Spain and Greece.

Stipe Mesic, this man travels with the wind. In the 1960's he was a fanatical communist. 1972 he supported the anti-communist Croatian Spring Movement. In 1990 he supported the Tudjman and the right wing and now he wants us to believe he is a friend of the Jews. Mesic you have no idea about the victims of Blieburg. The victims included The Black Legion ,non-ustase Domobrani, Bosnians,Slovenes, Albanians and even Cetnik Serbs. For you to call Blieburg a place of orgy is an absolute disgrace you should be sued by the families of the dead as your mouth can't seem to shut itself. You constantly interfer in the Serbian/Kosovo problem and then pretend to feel pity for those at Jasenovac. "Get a Life"
