What would be Ukraine without Russia ? A country of poor farmers speaking german or polish ! It is crazy to see how is low the level of the knowledge of the real history in this country. Poor country, poor president, poor future. It is the white africa of eastern europe...

1) The Ukraina-Russia division is completely artificial. And as much as Kosovo is the cradle of Serbia, so is "Ukrainian" Kiev + Chernigov (and Novgorod + Pskov in northern Russia) for Russia.

2) The current division has not much to do with ethnics because Ukrainian-Russian ethnic(?) lines are extreme unclear. It has rather to do with lesser bosses of communist party(ies) wanting to become own bosses and not report to an other boss in Moscow. It's the "democratic centralism" at works.

3) There are hardly few villages in Ukraina speaking Polish or German. The number of Slovaks, Romanians and in particular - Hungarians is much higher. Otherwise everyone in cities speaks Russian as main language, even in families. Maybe less in Lwów, but certainly everywhere else.

OK, it's a DIFFERENT Russian than my ear is used to, much "harder" one and I just can't speak the way they do. But it's still the same language even if sometimes it sounds funny.

Like for Serbs the way I pronounce Serbian words and twist the grammar is very funny, too. "Big" deal...
