This farsical situation in kosovo is disgrace to justice and civilization. For people (read serbs) to live in ghetos in this century in the middle of europe is truly sickening. The international community unfortunately supported the wrong side and now they have to deal with the fallout, which is an ugly and spreading Albanian nationalism. It serves them right i would say if its not for our poor relatives who have to endure daily abuse from their albanian neighbours.

"during the 2004 riots,6 victims were serbs and the others were albanians!
(lili, 2 January 2009 18:39"

yes, Lili, those Albanians were shot by international "peacekeepers" to prevent them from killing serb civilians.

that shows who was the aggressor in the socalled "riots" in 2004.

Serb safety is to be guaranteed in general, not in the particular? Oh, and by the way, you Serbs have to hand in your weapons. Can't have you protecting yourself in the particular.

Roberto,

PEACE cannot come without JUSTICE.

PEACE and JUSTICE to all and Happy New Year - let's hope it brings a little of both to Kosovo and the entire Balkans.

I am glad that all is quiet on the western front for now, so to speak. but what i want to share is my latest find, online, a group called "Community Building Mitrovica." it is a multi-ethnic group in mitrovica promoting peace and creative projects, as i understand it, founded by a woman named Valdete, who herself was a victim of the war(s). so i think that that is one positive development coming out of mitrovica, and i think it is a good starting-off point for the new year.

working together, and waging PEACE. which actually means promoting a chance for normal life for all people.

i wish everyone a very happy new year!

my new year's resolution (we do that here): remaining insistently positive! we try doing this at my school; it is sort of an in-joke -- "are you remaining insistently positive about your students/co-workers?" not such an EZ task. at any rate we'll see how long it lasts here :-)

Peace.

These albanian adults should be tried in a court of law as adults & should be ashamed not only of attacking anyone - but a 16 year old child. Let's see how this "new" corrupt government acts...

Burning a store isn't a good thing, but neither is burning our monasteries.

The entire Kosovo establishment is yet to acknowledge that there have been any serb vitims during the war or after. I have truly never heard an albanian distance himself from violence agains serbs and other minorities. If something does happen to a serb or serbian property there is always an excuse and justification for why it happend. During the albanian riots in 2004 all over Kosovo serbs were killed and churches burned to the ground becasue of a rumour that two albanian children had been chased in to a river by serbs and drowned. This story was made up and the riots were planned in advance with the purpose of murdering the remaining serbs in Kosovo. The war in Bosnia was far bloodier than the Kosovo conflict and still serbs and bosnian muslims/croats have managed to live in co-existence without major incidents, even if they politicaly don't agree on certain issues. How come it's possible in Bosnia but not in Kosovo? I work for a major swedish company where there are several bosnian muslims who go to Banja Luka in serb dominated Bosnia ever year without any problems. Minorities in Kosovo can't even go to their next door neighboor without risking his or her life. Now serbs can't even feel secure in an are with a minority albanian population. My conclusion is that albanians are troublemakers and don't want peace and co-existence.

The stabbing was tragic eventhough there has been no release as to circumstances other than Serbian victim and Albanian suspects.
Suspects were immediately arrested, however the comments from yesterday condemned all of Kosovo and "Albanians" in particular. Yet the burning of establishments and the shooting of at least one Albanian is justified by the posters here. Just seems like a warped sense of morals to me.

This incident is only one out of many attacks on innocent serbs. It happens daily all over the province but unfortunately go unnoticed most of the time. The purpose is to bring fear in the serb community and force them to leave their ancient land. Some how the albanian frustration is understandable. A compleatly failed attempt to get Kosovo recognized, no UN seat, a compleat stop of recognitions, an international community who is finally realizing that the albanians are the troublemakers, high unamployment, a maffia run province that would even make Cosa Nostra look like boy scouts, poverty, racism, etc etc etc... What's truly amazing is that the serbian police managed to do something the entire world has not been able to acomplish: preventing attacks like this on serbs and their property. For example, not even one church was destroyed while Kosovo was under Serbias control. So, EU and America, if you want to see how it's done, give the control back to the serbian police.
