Montenegro will not rush to the K-Albanians cause. They will wait for the ICJ ruling. With a 30+ % Serbian population in their backyard that would be the smartest thing to do. As for Kosovo, the end will be partition - sorry no one can have the entire cake....its just not gonna happen.

The EU and NATO is not the whole world to European countries and state interests should be considered first and foremost, especially when most of the Western Balkans has a long way to join both.

If Kosovo recognition is in state interests, they should do it, if not, they shouldn't. It's not like a country cannot exist without the EU or NATO anyway.

I really wish the international community would just leave Montenegro alone to make up their own decision about Kosovo and other things.

Peter, your argument appears sound at a glance. However, your argument is turning a blind eye to the fact that Serbia is not leaving Montenegro alone.

Maybe majority of people in Montenegro are pro recognition. So, my dear, you do strike me as an intelligent person. Please do not take sides and let Montenegro be what it is--not a state controlled by Serbia but a state that has a very long history in slef-governance and dignity. As a matter of fact, Montenegrins should do their best to distance from Serbia's nationalistic conduct in the past. How quickly we are forgeting that Serbia started four wars (Slovenia. Croatia, Bosnia and Kosova--they all wanted out Serbia). Serbian forces (supported by serbian majority) commited ethnic cleansing and horrible crimes. You know, Germany was made to apologize for their conduct, so should Serbia. PLEASE, do not turn a blind eye to the facts.

Montenegro, if you sit on that fence too long you run the risk of being impaled.
Seriously, you already know which way you are going to vote so get on with it.

To the Albanian camp. Montenegro along with all the other countries too small to resist are being pressured by the west.

That's the price you pay for breaking away and then being too small to resist.
You know what they say. United we stand, divided we fall. We are seeing exactly that happening right now.
All the "countries" which have sprung up from fomer Yugoslavia are realizing that now. Did you guys really think that you will be masters of your own destiny? Did you think that you were going to be allowed to be countries in your own right or just America's colonies?

There is always a high price to pay for US backing.

Wait. I dont get it. Since when the recognition of the UDI is a prerequisite for a country to enter the EU?
And you call the statements of a Serbian official "pressure" and you dont call the "recognise or stay out", pressure?

What is wrong with you people? You say "No one is forcing them to. Honestly."
And how do you know?
I am "honestly" telling you that CG is under heavy pressure. Prove me wrong. A "honestly" will not do the job.
When you albanians say "recognise or stay out of EU", you dont understand that you are trying to put pressure on CG, which on top is not valid? There is nowhere written that CG HAVE TO recognise the UDI in order to enter EU or any other organisation. On the other hand, do you really believe that by putting pressure on them, they will forget it? When the time comes (if at all) they will have a nice, big, juicy veto for Kossovo to enter EU.
Stop being so super-duper "sovereign" and start thinking realistic.
Everyone that will recognise you under pressure, will shut the EU door for you exactly because of this.

Peter,

Serbia is not leaving Montenegro alone in making up its mind. Serbia still thinks that Montenegro is its part of Serbia. The choice for Montenegro is not that hard. If Montenegro feels is really an independen country and wishes to join the EU should recognise Kosova without further delays. If Montenegro considers itself as part of Serbia should do the oposite. The USA and EU is making clear to Montegro what is ahead. You can call it pressure I call it suggestion. How do you call Serbia recent statement towards Macedonia and Montenegro when it comes to Kosova recognition? I call it "pressure" and threat you feel free to call it suggestions.

No one is forcing them to. Honestly. But if they want to join EU and NATO they must have 'good neighborly relations." EU is tired of nationalism and ethnic conflicts.

"Montenegro's recognition of Kosovo will take place when conditions for that are met, and we have yet to see when that will be: in a day or two, in a year or two, or in 30 years," said Vuković.

So, this means Montenegro WILL recognize Kosovo. It is a matter of time as I always said.
