Take a passport that is not recognised by most of the world and will offer only limited travel opportunities (don't forget that even those countries that have recognised will be reluctant to grant visas to Kosovo 'citizens'), or take Serbian passports and enjoy widespread travel, including increasingly easy travel to the EU. The move by UNMIK may be cheered at first by K Albanians, but once the reality of this response to the new reality on the ground sinks in I doubt they will be so pleased.

Well, I'm happy they have new passports.

I have a hunch that the majority of normal people in Kosovo would prefer having a passport which is recognized by 192 countries(Serbia or Albania)as opposed to one which may or may not be recognized by 43 countries depending on each country's experience with illegal aliens and criminals from Kosovo.On the other hand a lot of rich people in those 43 countries are in desperate need of organ transplants.

This is a great move by UNMIK. The K_Albanians will only be able to visit nations that have recognized their UDI. In the other 150 or so other nations in the world, the K_Albanians will see a closed door. Enjoy your K_Albanian tourists Germany, etal., and all the tourist Euros they will spend, NOT!

If anybody still doubts the Independence of Kosova, this is your wake up call.

What are you talking about?
Ramush Harajdinaj went to Hague voluntarily; he did not hide under forged name and stolen identity.
He did not grow his beard and hair.
Now if there were facts about the alleged atrocities he would still be there.
If you seem to have had proofs about his actions, why didn’t you provide the information you had.

Also, if any future proofs of his conduct are discovered I can assure that every Albanian will happily see him (and anybody else involved in any crimes) back in court.
Until then Carlos, he is free and innocent. Or Carlos, should we take him back there just because you disagree with the Hague tribunal’s decision?

I personally cannot think of any other state apart from the ones that have recognised us (and the ones that have not but will accept the passport) to go and visit. I thought of visiting China, but hey that can wait. You see it is not in my “must do list”.

I think the same. This is the way for EU to slowly isolate Albanians. Kind of, keeping them in check. It’s to obvious they don’t want them in there countries.

I must disappoint you that, my friend, there are far more countries recognizing this passport than have yet recognized the Independence (neighbouring Macedonia and Montenegro as for start). It is an indirect sign that they in fact recognize Kosova, but have to wait for the right moment.

Bye bye Kosovo. And do not blame anyone but yourself, Kosovo was bought from your leadership with a speedy SAA and a promise to join EU. If you have any questions or comments, direct them to the Serbian leadership that sold Kosovo, not Albanians or USA.

No matter how people view the new K-passports, they are legal documents accepted by at least 50 countries for the moment, with most of EU, US, Australia, Canada, Montenegro, and Macedonia accepting them. Who cares abour traveling to Zimbabwe or Belarus? If they are not recognized in Serbia, so be it. Then K-As might very well spend their money elsewhere, which by the way, they're already doing.

Interesting, but I don't understand some of the comments here. So for example how can K-Albs have also serbian pass as some of you are stating that with this pass they have more open doors? Didn't you guys before said that you don't want K-Albs moving around with your pass as they are putting bad image on the country, and affecting the visa liberalization? Or can they legally claim a pass from Serbia, or also from other ex-Yu countries ?

Can somebody explain this issue to me? I don't have a clue what is going on anymore in here... unmik pass, now k pass, and serbian pass, what is all this?

Jim, don't worry, they can get Albanian passports, if they absolutely want to go to Cyprus or Slovakia. Albania is recognized, and the countries you talk about are giving visas less reluctantly to Albanian citizens. When Albania enters in EU, they will be able to travel in EU without visas too. But Kosovo may enter in the EU before Albania, judging by the politicians we have in Albania. In that case I will go to Pristina and apply for a Kosovo passport. A question for the Kosovo Albanians here: how is the law about Kosovo citizenship? Where can I find it?

I wonder if the EU can apply restrictions on how the candidate countries issue passports. Any lawyers here?

Well Ahmet i see that cue that you said the countries waiting to acknowledge Kosovo but i have not seen this mass of countries step up where are they sir? PM Thaci said a 100 countries were waiting well some are still waiting on the fence alot of the muslim countries as well.

People usually use whatever means solve the problem to them. So, if for ex. somebody from Kosovo wants to go to China to buy stuff there and sell it back in Kosovo, they will use the Serb passport if they already have one, or get an Albanian passport if it is easier to get than the Serbian one. Or use the UNMIK passport if it is still accepted. It is like having dual or triple citizenship (without ever emigrating). Probably just dual citizenship, because I find it hard to believe that Serbia is issuing passports to the Albanians of Kosovo.
