Gay rights group: No conditions for parade

The conditions for a homosexual parade to be held in Serbia do not exist, an activists told reporters in Belgrade today.

it is a sad and really pitiful situation for gays ("queers") in serbia, and the govt and police show an utter disregard for basic civil rights, civil liberties, basic democratic protections. the truth is, it isn't a great deal better throughout the rest of the balkans, alto i think it is somewhat easier to be gay in zagreb, perhaps big cities in slovenia... perhaps sarajevo.

we have a very long way to go, but at least we can thank cedi's liberal party and a few other progressives inside serbia... things will eventually change, but how long will it take??
