Dont waste your time talking about that just move on.
Life is short. Take care of your families and start to be good neighbours. Good luck.

A compliment well taken, village bey. I'm not a Serb but for some reason my sympathies lie with them, particularly in the region of Kosovo (call it an Orthodox bond if you will).

What K-Serbs do, or more appropriately how they respond, will largely be conditioned by what first moves are made by Albanians in the first month of so. If there is truly a sign of genuine cooperation and a desire to see Kosovo as a multiethnic state, then I think most of the initial fears will die down. Your thoughts on Strpce remind me of the Serb-Albanian cooperation in the ski resort.

But Pristina is going to have to give a lot of leeway at first to expected Serb reactions. Forcing them to submit to Pristina will only exacerbate problems. That's why I think allowing for institutionally guaranteed decentralization in the Serb sectors will help diffuse tensions in the short run. We can only really talk about cooperative co-existence once the bare essential qualities of life are ensured. If Serbs stay on the land, and displaced Serbs return, then I think we're in business. But again, it will be a herculean task for both Pristina and the EU Administration.

Do not be so pessimistic Mike. Things have a strange habit of improving with time.
It is a bit unfair that you make a connection between a declaration if independence and radicalisation of Kosova’s Serbs. Kosovo is not declaring independence as an Albanian state but as a multiethnic one. I do appreciate that you have ever so often voiced your support for an autonomous Kosovar Serb movement that would have K-Serb’s interest at heart and safeguard their heritage. Within the proposed framework of the new state there are great provisions for the Serbs to truly feel part of the construct. Furthermore, overall Serb and Albanian interest lies in cooperation between our respective ethnicities. Albanians were never involved in the design of the old administrative border and we have to work within the given design. If you think that, the Serbs interest will be best served by a constitutional separation we all know that it will only used as a border formation, which you have denounced before. Of your 5 Serb municipalities only three have a real chance of functioning as confederal cantons and by coincidence they are all located in the north. The latest estimate on Noveberde is 61% Albanian and 39% Serbian, so your classification is not technically correct, and after all a canton for 1521 is not realistic. Strpce is a drop in an Albanian sea and very much interested in cooperation. It would be fairer to underline a difference on the K-Serb approach to the new state and the difference is the location in reference to Ibar River. There are a few possible outcomes to independence but that very much depend on the Serb reaction. I feel that the emotional talk won’t be the best option for you.
I know that you are not a Serb but I am considering you as one of them. In here, I cannot think of anybody else who has served their interest better than you have. That’s a compliment my friend.

"THIS AUTCOME SHOULD BE SWITZERLAND OF BALCANS-CANTONIZATION WHERE IS POSSIBLE."

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens at the end of the day when the dust settles. At the very least, the 5 Serb municipalities (Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan, Strpce, and Novo Brdo) could certainly qualiify for something like this. Plus, the AP has called for notable decentralization in many administrative sectors.

Regardless, the game pieces are now in motion and it will be at least a month until all sides have played their hands and we see what we end up with.

EA,

1244 remains so whay else is the reality going to be beyond the 17th February apart from even greater uncertainty and status limbo?

You better hope the US and EU are willing to put more then just words but lots and lots of money and indefinitly into their imposed solution beacuse thus far 205 million Euro's just covers 1800 of their staff for 16 months imposing their rules and laws upon only the ethnic-Albanians in Serbia's province - evrybody else will just ignore this illegal folly.

Like Bmrusila I actually think the sooner you guys illegally declare once more just like in 90's the sooner you'll realise the reality of illegal staus & the sooner you might come to your senses (lets hope without too much blood feuding!) but then maybe that is asking much of those who think polar bears exist in the Sar planina!!!

Now apparently ther is even sugsestions that the actual deculartion will be put off till March and that on the 17th it will be a so called "intention" to declare in coordination with your masters wish!!!

Just a clarification that Ahtisari Plan was not rejected by the Security Council but by Russia. The reason because Serbs didn't like it and they will never like it. But we all agree that status quo is UNTANABLE. In other words a solution should be found providing that parties can not reech to an agreement. That is the clear version of the event. That is why USA and EU are taking ownership in solving the problem....and the job will be finished soon with Kosova being fully independent from Serbia!

montenegro was an independent state many centuries before your abominable quest to take our territory and turn it into a de facto rogue state one unsc vote short of de iure ;) was even a gleam in your tribal leaders' eyes :)

so the comparison you see is highly inappropriate, that's what i mean.

That's all fine and good, but I hope these foregin diplomats are prepared to acknowledge Serb withdrawal from Kosovo institutions in the first 24 hours after declaration. And while we may hear Ode to Joy in Pristina and Southern Mitrovica, I have a sneaking feeling Serbs in Northern Mitrovica and Gracanica will be blasting Chetnik songs alongside of it. If the diplomats are willing to accept the near-immediate cantonization of Kosovo into Albanian and Serb parts, I say let the party begin. Though if they're going to be shocked as to why Serbs aren't joining Albanians in hand, consider this little comment fair warning.

bmrusila and Co.:
Wow, I can't stop laughing how you guys have morphed your position on Kosovo's independence in the past few months. First, it was that Russia will never allow Kosovo to be independent; then you started asking us to accept your ridiciolous proposal for autonomy; then you were claiming that it doesn't matter if we become independent, our independence will be illegal; and now you're saying that the countries will "revoke their signature." !!!!

This all remindes me of Monetenegro and their independence process. People here kept positing messages throwing everything on Montenegrens. In the end of the day, they became independent.

Foreigners are writting you declaration of independence. That tells us how independend you will really be. when Benjamin Franklin wrote US declaration of independence, he didn't ask any foreigners to write the words.
But, go ahead, declare it. Krajina also declared independence from Croatia, and where are they now.

bmrusila

pre 18 godina

Oh, this is boring already. Why don’t you just go ahead and declare it. You did it before and I am sure you will do it many times after the low number of the recognition. Any way, I am sure that declaration and illegal independence won’t last for long, I give max one-two years. I expect in that period of 1-2 years many countries will revoke their signatures when Albanians fail to govern or when the EU fails to create any viable conditions necessary for the country. This new creation is damned to fail.
