Good luck to the Serbian taxpayers who will have to repay the Russian and Chinese loans which financed this. (Tony (a Brit seconded to Berlin), 20 March 2022 03:54)

Your point is mute, the debt levels of Serbia is far below most of western Europe.

Joachim: I've taken the bus from Belgrade to both Novi Sad and to Nis. I have also taken the train from Belgrade to both destinations in 2015. I have also analysed Serbia's railway strategy for my job, so yes, I know what I am talking about. The facts which I have stated remain - if you think that they are "crap", then I feel very sorry for you.

Osmanis: On the contrary, I am a great supporter of Serbia, its people and its culture and history. I am not a supporter of corrupt Propaganda President Vucic and his cronies, who control Serbian media, make personal fortunes at the expense of others, disregard the judiciary, stifle the opposition and are only interested in keeping power, come what may. Serbia deserves so much better than him.

Vucic should be careful when dealing with Hungarians, they hate us. I remember visiting Budapest, the Hungarians made no attempt at hiding their disdain for anything Serbian. They do have a much higher standard of living than we do, this may be the reason they look down on us.

Tony,
Do you suffer from memory loss or are you just anti Serbian at any price???
When you say that most of Europe modernised their railways 30 years ago you may be right. But do you not remember what was going on in Yugoslavia 30 years ago...??
It would make a nice change if you for once congratulate Belgrade for modernising and industrialising at a fast pace instead of tacking a cheap swipe at every opportunity.

Tony, have you ever taken the bus or the train between Belgrade and Novi Sad? I did and I'm not Chinese. Cut your crap! Ordinary citizens will be very happy to have a modern and speedy commute line between those two cities!

Joachim,
You must understand that many in Serbia want to be an island of nationalistic fools and not part of a civilized Europe.
That takes up much of their time.

That's great news!
But excuse my question, will Belgrade railway station be ready one day?
As long as I come to Belgrade, 18 years now, this project has been more or less ongoing and is far from being finished today. Isn't that a shame for a European metro-pole?

Unbelievable - it has taken until 2022 for Serbia to finally modernise its railway between Belgrade and Novi Sad to a standard which was quite common in Western Europe 30 years ago. Good luck to the Serbian taxpayers who will have to repay the Russian and Chinese loans which financed this. The greatest benefit, of course, will be for Chinese freight services as this is part of their link between the Chinese-owned port of Piraeus and Central and Western Europe.
