Yes, I am smart. In fact, extremely smart so pay a little attention and you just might learn something for a change. The jet in question was a MiG 21 and not to be confused with the recent acquisition of MiG29.
The MiG 21 is an old aircraft that was purchased by the Yugoslav air force and not by Serbia, but with the break up Serbia inherited them. It was the last of that model.
Military jets are like Formula One cars. Speed and manoeuvrability are of the essence, and the faster the aircraft the better the chance of survival in any encounter.
These machines can break down more often than other aircraft because of the enormous stresses placed on them during operations, and something can always go wrong. Sadly this time it did. My deepest condolences to the families concerned.
Why did a “superior” US F-15C plane crash in the North Sea or an F18 in California in June 2020? I can list lots more if you like. Surely the US does not make junk? Then why is the F35 still refereed to as the trillion-dollar lame duck? Still has many major problems. So far Australia has taken delivery of only 2 and all they do is fly over during ceremonial occasions.
Then look at Boeing’s recent record of producing flying crap.
