The serbian military in Kosova was very happy when NATO intervened because they knew that will speed up the war and Serbia's defeat. Serbs fighting in Kosova knew that they were losing long before NATO intervened and a lot of them were deserting and leaving military uniforms and trying to fit in with serbian civilians as they didn't want to die trying to steal others land. There are even videos of serbian military deserting long before the war ended.
