The most significant global growth for the next few decades+ is in the asia-pacific region. Russia is a Eurasian power and is in the process of rebalancing itself, i.e. sitting on two stools at the same time. It looks like Russia's vast geography is continues to work for it after some very tough times before. Only snobs sniff at Russia and Asia. But! But! But! My butt!

MARK W, you make such sweeping statements that you sound foolish.
Your view that joining the EU is the greatest thing since sliced bread is naive. Eurozone nations have an 86% debt to GDP. Go ask the Greeks, Italians, Spanish, etc how good the EU has been for them. Recent arrivals into the EU were political decisions, nothing more. Rumania, Bulgaria and Croatia are in dire straights. Their debts are way higher than that of Serbia. And all 3 have a higher debt than before joining the EU. In Croatia 19.5% of the population live below the official poverty line.
We in the UK will leave the EU sooner or later (thank God).
I hope for the sake of the Serbian people they never join. Its a con.
And simpletons like you just dont get it. Russias debt is 19.5% of GDP, which is one of the lowest in the world. China is going to be the no.1 economy soon. The US is $23+ trillion in debt (106% of GDP).
Sorry but your picture of the EU and "the west" is fake.
Get your facts right.

It amazes me that so Many Serbs who live in the US,Canada, Australia and other western countries want to see Serbia side with Russia. I guess they don’t want Their fellow Serbs to advance economically like they have.

What hypocrites, they should sell this homes and move their families back to Serbia or to “mother Russia” But they won’t since they really don’t care about the people in Serbia just their pride and Nationalism.

Your Croatia is in the west as well in the EU so why has it turned into a crap hole where thousands have left for greener parts of the world? Last year the number 1 and 2 countries supplying Germany with new migrants were Romania and Croatia. Perhaps you should move back to Croatia and bask in the wealth there.

How many times do we have to tell you people why we're not moving from the countries we live in?
Not that we owe you any explanation but seriously, do you really expect us to leave our children who were born here and their children behind just to prove a point to you?
We care a lot about Serbia and Serbs everywhere and we want the best and have the right to our opinion. After all, we always try to help in any way we can. How come you don't reject our financial help when things go wrong? Why do you take our hypocritical western money?
We can assess which things work and which don't and don't need to live there to do that.

No harm until 2025.
EU is becoming unmanageable anyway. Aid rep Serbia appears to be sitting on the two chairs because it's not so sure. Not surprising. It's fascist against non fascist, double standards within EU.
EU money, maybe we won't need it.

Only small “elite “ in Serbia wants to be part of Eu , majority people support being neighbors and partners to Eu, just not members. Let’s see how Eu will cope after brexit. We all know to be in Eu you have to be member of Nato- Nazi alliance.
No thanks

There are two options.
1. As it is, balancing between the blocks. Can work, can be risky from economical point of view.
2. Join EU and have direct access to the markets of the closest neighbours without having customs.

The EU as closest neighbour will be just by geographics always important. Practically all transports in and out go through EU territory. So pissing EU totally off is no option, I doubt trading routes can go through Albania after Montenegro joins EU.
Staying outside gives the chance to balance and ia excellent as their are always alternatives. At the moment there are 3 blocks. The big once (west and china) and Russia, which is economically no match for west and china at the moment. Plus on side contracts can be done with all other states.
I would say, stay out of EU as long as possible but always have good relations with it, as without them it can be hell if there is no trading route open to the rest of the world.
This is just from my point of view regarding business.
