In the past twenty years, Serbia has paid about 700 million euros of Kosovo's debt and will continue to do so, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Tuesday.

What a ridiculous statement. According to your logic all loans taken out by the former Yugoslavia belong to Belgrade so Belgrade has to pay the entire debt? No, that is why those debts were apportioned to all former republics of Yugoslavia.
The only reason that has not happened in Kosovo is because Serbia does not recognise Kosovo’s separation and thus continues to repay its debt. However, if it were to recognise Kosovo then you have to repay Serbia with interest on the money they paid out – that is how it works. There is no such a thing as a free lunch mate.
I work in finance, not in this area, but the bank I work for gives loans to countries and I have colleagues who administer these loans. Nothing is lost. You have read EU has cancelled a debt to Greece? – well the bank still gets paid by Brussels and the taxpayer foots the bill.
That’s why I say it’s a win-win for Belgrade; if Belgrade recognises Kosovo then Kosovo has to repay it for their portion of loans that Yugoslvaia borrowed. If say there is a carve up of Kosovo then only the portions leaving Serbia will have a debt to repay.
Pristina will have such a huge debt to repay when you take into account interest you people will have NOTHING to sell because everything will belong to Belgrade to cover your portion of the loan.

As far as the “other members of the Federation” is concerned, why hasn’t Slovenia and Croatia been successful since separating from Yugoslvaia? They were the richest parts of Yugoslavia and according to some financially supported Yugoslavia so why are they so much worse off?
The best thing that ever happened was the destruction of Yugoslavia so Serbs don’t have to financially carry others on their back.

What a ridiculous statement. According to your logic all loans taken out by the former Yugoslavia belong to Belgrade so Belgrade has to pay the entire debt? No, that is why those debts were apportioned to all former republics of Yugoslavia.
The only reason that has not happened in Kosovo is because Serbia does not recognise Kosovo’s separation and thus continues to repay its debt. However, if it were to recognise Kosovo then you have to repay Serbia with interest on the money they paid out – that is how it works. There is no such a thing as a free lunch mate.
I work in finance, not in this area, but the bank I work for gives loans to countries and I have colleagues who administer these loans. Nothing is lost. You have read EU has cancelled a debt to Greece? – well the bank still gets paid by Brussels and the taxpayer foots the bill.
That’s why I say it’s a win-win for Belgrade; if Belgrade recognises Kosovo then Kosovo has to repay it for their portion of loans that Yugoslvaia borrowed. If say there is a carve up of Kosovo then only the portions leaving Serbia will have a debt to repay.
Pristina will have such a huge debt to repay when you take into account interest you people will have NOTHING to sell because everything will belong to Belgrade to cover your portion of the loan.
Its how finance works everywhere except amongst the Albos LOL. Stick to trying to prove Albos were in the Balkans before the dinosaurs.

This money Yugoslavia did not borrow. This money Kosovo as an Autonomous Kosovo went to World bank and borrowed.(My guess we, rep Serbia inherited debt because at that time Kosovo and now is rep. Serbia.
