Everyone knows that. For Americans it's marketing ploy to keep the jobs. For Russians it's marketing ploy to get some money in education, science, technology.

I really do not trust the bureaucrats. I really do not trust that bureaucrats care about jobless in CT, NY, NH. Or about the fate of Russian space program.

Even in 1960-s both sides were capable to destroy a good part of the solar system.

With this major BS at least some money is going to be funneled into more, than their luxury cars and private jet travels.

It's really bad, but in Gorbi + Yeltsin era both sides suffered. I mean, the blue and white collar.

The bureaucrats were perfectly happy.

Therefore these ultra-nationalist Russians and American hawks have some hidden benefits. I can well imagine that they know about it. The machinery-for-titanium trade does keep the balance and there is nothing around it. It's like a balance created by God himself.

Because they want more people have jobs.
My personal priority would be space, healthcare, IT, improving the infrastructure like roads and railways.

But war science is easier to sell in Duma or Congress.

So why would they bodder with further developing there weapons, any full scale war, would be a draw.
(Tito reloaded, 5 December 2018 15:39)

Because it hugely influences their industries.

It's so much money one can't even imagine.

But here is the catch. They mutually need each other, or should I say, we mutually need each other badly.

Our, I mean, American missiles and the space program can't make a single step forward without their (Russian) titanium. Only Russia has the technology to make that kind of alloy. It's a secret.

Others can imitate it - but it's not the same.

So far so good... but here is an other problem.

Our, I mean, Russian missiles and the space program can't make a single step forward without their (American) machinery.

Only Americans have the machines which can properly deal with our alloys. Swedish machinery does not cut, ours is a sad joke, so is German.

The deal: machines for the alloy.

Additional site-benefit is the space program.
And that the U.S. industrial-military complex is strong.

God forbid, an other Gorbi or Yeltsin comes. That would mean lay-offs and even more lay-offs, just after the new lay-off wave.

Who will be laid off? Blue-collar ghetto dwellers on the East Coast.

Crime up, property prices all over Connecticut, NY, NH down, you can't walk safely on the streets. Been there, seen that, done that.

Funny is, that both sides have weapons to create a nuclear winter and bring human kind to extinction. For this they would not even have to drop the bombs on the other sides territory.
So why would they bodder with further developing there weapons, any full scale war, would be a draw.

A bit more background. The US ended the ABM Treaty in 2002 under GW Bush. Then the US started the Missile Defense Agency and put missile defense systems in Poland and Romania, supposedly to protect Europe against Iran and North Korea. This gives the US an edge over Russia when it comes to first strikes.
Both Russia as well as the US are hindered by the INF Treaty because it forbids them to develop short to middle range missiles that can carry a nuclear payload that can target European cities. But that hinders these countries when dealing with China which is not bound by this treaty. So Russia secretly developed these weapons prompting the US as an excuse to abolish the treaty.

Dwight

Russia has broken this treaty over the objections of the USA.
Now that USA will officially end the treaty, Russia announces that this is aggression against Russia.

Obviously this is complete bullshit. I know Serbia is pro-Russia but I am still shocked at B92. This is not a news article. This is a copy/paste of a Sputnik/Kremlin press release.
