Britain's people power moment, beginning of Brexit's end?

To my dying day I shall never forget seeing the Duke of Wellington's house at Hyde Park Corner surrounded by a vast sunlit crowd waving the European flag.

but Brexit is going to be a national disaster, leaving the UK in economic ruin and divided.

I don't believe that for a second.
Yes Britain is divided but the majority wanted out so whichever way you look at it, it will always be divided but majority rules and that's why we vote.
Just because it will be divided you shouldn't give it to the minority, should you?
Economic disaster is a bit overstating it. How much money is taken out to prop up other EU member states?
That surely will end. No more having to import millions of invaders who are hellbent on destroying you or having to keep the ones already there. They can set their own rules and throw many out now.

Well said.I wonder how many of the remainer’s camp would’ve asked for another referendum had the result gone their way.For Ash a march of 700k people-if we believe those figures-is a form of democracy but a vote of 17.4 million is not
The real problem isn't the project fear the sort the Remain campaign continuously espoused ie the loss of trade with the EU. The EU sold the UK £80bn more stuff than they bought from them last year alone, is simply in no position to throw even more Continentals out of work by being obstructive over trade. Slashing revenues and cutting jobs at Fiat, Renault, Siemens and the rest just so European politicians can create a petty tit-for-tat dispute with their British customers would be a spectacular instance of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face.
No, the real problem the EU faces is that Brexit blows the lid off the whole gaff and creates an entirely new and unpredictable situation. As a result popular Eurosceptic and pragmatic anti-federalist forces at national level will have an unprecedented opportunity to overthrow their complacent federalist elites and kill off their pet projects. Brexit-type referenda in several other nations will now be far harder to resist and, the polls suggest, at least as hard to win. Other departures, suddenly seem highly likely in the years ahead.

PEN - I'm very much a remainer, but I agree with everything you say. There was a vote and I can't see a reason for another - people say they weren't told the truth, but that's no different to any election in history. You're also right about the people who went, London middle class types who think they can change the world and ignore the result. It has to happen, but Brexit is going to be a national disaster, leaving the UK in economic ruin and divided.

Is this an opinion piece or a news article? As the Serbian mouthpiece for the BBC, have B92’s journalistic standards been reduced to a level where such differentiation is now irrelevant?

Wishful thinking. A few hundred thousand London centric middle class demonstrators doing the establishment's bidding, versus more than 17 million UK voters. Do the maths. 2016 referendum was the PEOPLE'S VOTE. If you don't like the result, tough. That's democracy.
