"What you want to know is who has the best disposal income? At $12.50 an hour it should be the person in the US.
But that is not the case since there would be very little disposal income left after paying for food, cloths, utilities and rent thus making him/her in no better position than the person living in Serbia under identical living conditions and job."
A person working an identical job in central or southern Serbia earns about 12,000rsd a month. That's with a fifty hour work week. He can't buy a house. He can't afford to rent an apartment. He can only live with his parents (hopefully they have a decent house), buy a bus ticket to get somewhere, and share kitchen work with his mother and father, if they are still living. He owns an old smartphone and has decent phone service but probably doesn't have a computer or printer/copier, doesn't travel, doesn't take holiday, doesn't remodel the house. The vast majority of people live in an old, rough house along a potholed road with very few job opportunities, poor government services (hospitals are the worst), and little hope for the future. Couldn't be further from the experience of the vast majority of people in America.
