Every 4th gen fighter came out at about the same time. By your logic every f15. F16 and f18 are obsolete. Get a clue on the subject before you speak. The mig29 and f16 are considered legends by much smarter people than you or anybody else on this website.

Almost nobody in Serbia celebrates this move. We are all aware that this is a disgrace, but Vucic is a viscious dictator who will stop at nothing to stay in power. Serbia is slowly disappearing. These 30 year old planes aren’t helping or impressing anyone. It’s a shame what’s happening and noone is helping us because and we are too weak to help ourselves. - Marko from Novi Sad

That said, Serbia should have an airforce. Flying is fun, and it looks good to have an occasional air display. Just don’t read too much into the significance.
(Bob, 22 August 2018 12:06)

Everything has a purpose and Serbia is rearming to dominate the Balkans. It’s the Russians job to dominate NATO and they are doing a fine job on that front.
The Croats went out and bought F16, but some of their retired air force officers don’t think much of the idea since it costs so much that it leaves very little to buy fuel to practice. One said they are only going to be used as photo opportunities for the government.
Gone are those days of pariah status. Its 2018 and the world has changed dramatically.

If Serbs want to see REAL hardware just visit any one of the NATO neighbors and see the NATO aircraft parked on the tarmac waiting to run sorties on Serbia’s Head:)
(USA Stands With Albanians, 21 August 2018 17:36)

Yep here is the backbone of NATO:

The US has 50 Army brigades that make up 10 divisions, but only three brigades are combat ready.
The Navy had 594 ships in 1987, but today it has 278 and needs 355.
The US Air Force needs 1200 fighters but only has 923 and most equipment is too old. It's short of 1000 pilots and 3000 maintenance workers. Pilot experience is at historic lows.

Only 38 of Germany's 114 high-tech Eurofighter jets are operational. Also 29 out of 93 Tornado fighter jets work. The number of German soldiers today is 177,000.

Germany has 6 submarines and not one is functional.

German Tornado jets conducting reconnaissance missions in Syria cannot fly at night because their cockpit lights are too bright for their pilots' eyes.

Former UK Royal Navy Rear Admiral Dr Chris Parry said the British military had fallen a long way behind Russia's capabilities. Navy ships are very old and spend more time in the dockyards being repaired than at sea.

Britain's armed forces are now at their smallest since the Napoleonic wars. The size of the Army has been cut from more than 100,000 to 82,000 since 2010. Speculation is that there were plans to cut the UK military by 14,000 service personnel, nine warships and 100 helicopters.

I find it hard to imagine where these planes could be meaningfully used anywhere. They are too few to make a self-protecting group. It is unlikely that more than two could be kept airborne for any length of time, and their vulnerability on the ground is very high. Politically Serbia would have to either be acting in cooperation with NATO or be reobtaining pariah status if it attempted anything on its own.

Politically, this is just sucking up to Putin to make him feel good. He knows that there is little use for these planes, but he obviously welcomes having a patsy in the Balkans. It’s also an ego boost for Vucic.

That said, Serbia should have an airforce. Flying is fun, and it looks good to have an occasional air display. Just don’t read too much into the significance.

Azir the mighty windbag when Alboland pays up its contribution the airfield will be enlarged not before so what little Tirana had in its treasury will be even less. No more free rides as Trump has said numerous times pay up, plus Tito is dead LOL.
As far as your F16 and 16s are concerned they will only fly when Albos pay for the fuel not before. But knowing the unpreparedness poor military conditions of NATO members it’s not a problem for Serbia. Why do Albos always hide behind someone else??? First Turks now NATO? Stand up and have some backbone.
Why would Serbs bury dead Albos in Batajnica? That’s Albo BS.

We, in Serbia, paid for those for whatever reason. It is paid. We don't have to say oh thank you, we don't have to almost cry because someone sold us something, for Pete's sake! And this is a well-meaning comment, btw.

Says who? You? Nato is not increasing numbers at bondsteel. Its such an ignorrant and baseless comment. In fact the united states is trying to creep closer to having a relationship with Serbia. That is reality. Aside from that they do not need hundreds of planes just because serbia has a few mig29s ready. You mention f15s also, lol. They are deployed in very few places, to auggest hundreds are being deployed to kosovo is hilarious. Youre iq is so low, really.

Truth
So you are saying Serbia transfered bodies from kosovo all the to belgrade to batajnica? Haha, another extremely stupid comment. Once again totally transparent jealousy. You just cant believe Serbia is back in a position of military strength in the region.

To both of you, NATO IS NOT BOMBING SERBIA AGAIN. THAT IS THE START OF WW3.

Does Vucic understand that those planes are obsolete? Does he understand that they aren’t anywhere close to being an upgraded variant? All they are is a plane with an engine called a Mig-29. If the public were smart they would realize Vucic has no idea what Serbia needs in terms of military preparedness. Also, what a tool, what elected official says they want to cry at the sight of donated junk? Lol!!
