Catholic Empire... just do a quick google search of Germany, the vast majority of Germans are Protestants...
Further learn about the east/west schism of the church, the main culprit was the eastern church as the west had already fallen while eastern roman empire stayed alive for another 1000 years. If it was not for the eastern treatment of the western church there would not have been a schism.
