Good question. There is no good answer to it - except that Illyrians are essentially the Dalmatinci today. Even Glagolitsa, the early Croatian writing was called "Illyrian writing" in medieval times.

I have no doubt that Albanians in some form lived there for at least 3000 years, maybe more. Their problem is that they have pretty much zero to do with Illyrians.

Good question. There is no good answer to it - except that Illyrians are essentially the Dalmatinci today. Even Glagolitsa, the early Croatian writing was called "Illyrian writing" in medieval times.

I have no doubt that Albanians in some form lived there for at least 3000 years, maybe more. Their problem is that they have pretty much zero to do with Illyrians.

For instance, why Illyrians were feared pirates - but Albanians did not do much in Venetian or Ottoman navy. Did they "forgot" how to do seal the sea?

On the other side of course Croatians from the coast were all over Venetian, Genovese, Spanish, Ottoman navy. So they did not forgot about the seas.

And why Glagolitic ("Illyrian") writing can be seen today all over HR on the road signs - but not a single trace of it in Albania?

The documents written in Albanian did not appear before 1400-s, but I recall there is one document from 1200-s.

That makes even Sinti / Roma accounts on Balkan older, than Albanian.

However, Albanians are much longer there. Just without written language, without any building erected earlier than 1200-s and without known leaders.

The answer is probably the life style. Living up in the mountains and taking care of living stock is a different set of challenges.
