This idiot has absolutely no idea of how Serbs feel about NATO. It's more like what he thinks Serbia feels, then multiply it by a million times - and, your only getting closer.

I am an American.
I am proud of our history.
America-Haters never change.
We know you well.
That you fear or envy us does not matter.
We have fought for good and that offends the bad.
Good !

And memory does not include the selective kind.
Without American help throughout the decades, many people, countries, would have been destroyed. But I assume your history lessons omitted that. Nevermind. Others remember and thrive today with gratitude and strong alliances with America. Serbia was one such ally at one time. But that may be too much memory for your head to hold.
(Betsy Lalich, 19 March 2018 15:27)
====================
Betsy (you have a great Serbian name too) you really don't get my point at all.
I really don't care what America has done in the past to or for others. I care what America has done to Serbia.
Are you forgetting that Serbia has helped the US more than US has helped Serbia? Serbs have saved 500 of theirs at great risk to themselves. Serbs have even saved Albright's family and got stabbed in the back for that.
What exactly has the US done for Serbia?
If you want to discuss how noble a country is then take a look at all the devastation US has brought to most of the world as well. The bad sure trumps the good here.
But again, that's not the point. The point is that if Serbia has an enemy, a long standing enemy in particular, then Serbia would be foolish to forget that.
We have tried more than once to bury the hatchet with some and they never change their attitude towards us so we would be extremely foolish to keep doing the same.
I don't mean become their mortal enemy forever but do remember the past and never trust them.

Peggy (with the great Serbian name) cannot accept reality. Many know how the Russians behaved while "liberating". Often this happens in war. But let us not be naive.

There you go again with your obsession with other people's dreams.
Is there anything else you can point to when trying to dispute a post?
BTW, not all wars are fought with a gun. It seems you are not aware of this. NATO first takes our land with a gun and now keeps us from getting it back with smears and propaganda.

The NATO general is right.
The war, not negotiations, is over. Why keep up such victim mentality? Serbs were victims from within and without their land. But selective memory is harmful. If one does not move forward you usually move backward. Presently Serbia is definitely still in peril, trying to find its soul. That soul cannot live on victimhood only. Hope and progress will be the only victors.
(Betsy Lalich, 18 March 2018 11:24)
======================
Betsy, do you know the saying "He who forgets history is doomed to repeat it"?
There is nothing wrong with having a long memory. That's not victim mentality at all.
That's a useful thing to have. Once burned, twice shy as they say.
It doesn't mean that you can't move on. Serbs have always moved on and reconciled. How do you explain Serbs being the biggest supporters of brotherhood and unity if that isn't the case?
We are moving on even now but don't expect us to forget our history.

U.N resolution 1244 stating that Kosovo was a part of Serbia was not respected, instead independence de facto was granted.
(Julien, 17 March 2018 15:52)

Well, Kosovo's declaration of independence was in accordance with U.N resolution 1244 (thanks to Vuk for having that clarified). So, are you saying that Serbia did not respect U.N resolution 1244? That is very possible since Serbia fought hard to prevent U.N resolution 1244 from being adopted, but Mr' Lavrov ignored Serbia's pleas!

Betsy Lalich

Some well known facts

pre 6 godina

Sasa, read the official biography of Tito and the atrocities that the Red Army committed in Yugoslavia - a friendly country, the most faithful ally of the USSR at that time. There were hundreds of cases of rapes and rapes with murder, numerous lootings, and general vandalism. Some people even said that German soldiers were gentlemen compared to the Soviets. One communist invited some Soviet officers to his home to celebrate the liberation of Belgrade and then they got drunk, raped his wife and almost beat him to death. One communist female's activist was raped by Red Army soldiers and it shook her so much that she quit activism altogether.

It's also indicative that when Djilas, a high Yugoslav official complained about the crimes in Yugoslavia directly to Stalin, he responded with: "Does Djilas, who is himself a writer, not know what human suffering and the human heart are? Can't he understand it if a soldier who has crossed thousands of kilometers through blood and fire and death has fun with a woman or takes some trifle?"

Julien

pre 6 godina

Well,

NATO was used to destroy Yugoslavia and mutilate Serbia. The U.S started their military deeds in Bosnia already. Zinnerman asked Izetbegovic to remove his signature from Carrigton Cutileiro plan in march 1992, a few days after Sijekovac Massacre where 48 to 78 Serbs were slaughtered by Bosniaks and Croat forces. So the Serbs would go to war, while the U.S would support the Bosniaks through NATO. And that's what happened... late, in 1994-1995, due to the French stalling of the anti-Serb military moves.

All along, the West led anti-Serb propaganda, accusing them of being the aggressors, genocidal warmongers.

Then, in 1998-1999, these NATO nations sponsored with weapons, training, intelligence, and diplomacy the UCK, so this terrorist organization could pile up both Serb bodybags, and Serbs would do so with Albanians in response. And ultimately justify an intervention in 1999, after the U.S sabotaged Rambouillet 23rd february 1999 consensus by adding NATO occupation of Yugoslavia, which Milosevic refused it. So there was war, in violation of both NATO treaty (A.5), and U.N charter (A 2.4), without U.N Security council approval. All Yu was bombarded, 1500+ Serbs died. Almost 200,000 were cleansed from Kosovo after the Kumanovo peace. U.N resolution 1244 stating that Kosovo was a part of Serbia was not respected, instead independence de facto was granted.

So Serbia should stay independent. NO NATO nor EU, they are foes and not friends. Serbia doesn't need them.

Aha. Right. But, see, General..there's a wee bit of a problem here.

Life goes on ** AFTER *** the conflict, General, not DURING.

Haven't you read the comments of your own commander, Dottore Scaparrotti?

Your OWN commander stated in a very public and very official political forum (and in his official capacity) that "Serbian people across the Balkans are the problem", i.e., the enemy? Mind you, just so that you don't miss the gist of what your commander really said: it is not the Serbian Army that he found to be the problem. It is the TOTALITY OF SERBIAN PEOPLE: every man, woman, child, toddler, infant and elderly. Wherever Serbs live, breathe, worship, work and die, NATO is engaged in conflict, either perceived or real.

So, you see, General...NATO is STILL at war with Serbs, even though Serbs stopped warring with NATO 20 years ago. What kind of "after the conflict" situation are you talking about? NATO is at war with Serbs, and has been for at least 30 years now, whether we wanted it or not.

By the way, how do you expect to conduct an orderly nuclear armageddon when your left foot is stuck in your mouth, while the right foot is embedded up to your hip in your hind end? What kind of organized military alliance has no clue what their own commander is talking behind the backs of his own staff?

Two months ago in Strasbourg was a conference named " Is Europe preparing for war", organized by French and German high ranked officers. It was said that EU should organize and form its own army, and take some distances from the NATO. Nevertheless it was also said that for the moment it is not possible as the agreement articles 83 and 5 are the bases of agreement, and they expire in 2019. It was also said that placing NATO troops at the Russian borders is a nonsense, and might be dangerous for Europe. They claimed that EU should be more friendly with Russia for many reasons.

Others remember and thrive today with gratitude and strong alliances with America. Serbia was one such ally at one time. But that may be too much memory for your head to hold.

Aha.

Meh!

You know that Mooscow wanted Yugoslavia to be in the east block? You know how people lived there comparing to Yugoslavia? I would not say that this was friendly from them.
I always wonder about which connections you natiolists are talking? Was there any help from russia for serbia in the 90s? Russian companies are trying to get out the most of serbia like western companies. The only thing is they are orthodox and slavic. But in the balkanmix of genetics, how to differ serbs, bosnians, croats, albanians? 1000 years together and nobody ever made a child with somebody from another group? Serbs have far more in common with croats and bosnians then with russians. ;) language, food, culture, music, rakija,...

Julien

pre 6 godina
