They need a small and defenseless country to show their might. A quick fight and win then praise their superior equipment and tell the world of their powerful army. What are modern fighting tactics? What do you do when troops are waiting at your border to invade? You may think you sound smart but you sound ignorrant. You fortify and prepare to defend any influx. Its the best time to squash an invasion. You dont wait till the enemy gets in, you stop them at the gates. Im not sure what you think is supposed to be done. Are they supposed to go to villages and hide behind women and children like jihadists do? Get a clue on the subject before you make really subpar comments. Nato was very aware that the invasion would come at a high cost even if it succeeded, which is a big if, its very difficult to make a breakthrough against an army already fortified. You bring up 1914, that was trench warfare nobody is talking about that. However digging in means occupying strategic positions and making sure you control the high grounds.

Btw the press in the usa is almost complet ly owned and run by the democratic party. The lies spewed have put the country at odds with one another. Bad example icj1.
