So this means that the journalists at B92 and elsewhere who use Latin now will have to write their articles twice? Once in Latin and once in Cyrillic? School textbooks for kids will have to be printed twice, once in Cyrillic and once in Latin? And kids will have to carry twice as many books in school? Or are school textbooks just Cyrillic now? Businesses across Serbia will have to spend money to update their signs? It would be nice to know which areas the law intends to be applied to. Will it affect the English section of B92 for instance? It would be fun to read English written in Cyrillic script.

The Cyrillic Alphabet was developed in the First Bulgarian Empire during the 9th century AD at the Preslav Literary School. It was created by Bulgarian disciples of Cyril and Metodi. Why would the serbs take pride in the accomplishments of other countries? Genuine question.

This is nothing. Go take a look at the language laws in Quebec, Canada, if you think this is draconian (it isn't). Whether it is the best use of resources at this time is another question...

What a stupid exercise.

Serbs use Cyrillic script through pride, not compulsion.

Serbs also use Latin script because they are not small minded.

Serbia under Vucic has become a fascist state, one man one rule. Vucic has become so powerful that even Seselj has become a mute and won't dare to open his trap. Citizens have a right to choose and should not be forced into compulsory lettering. If the Serbs introduce this pathetic law then they must stay silent on Vukovar and the cirilica issue.

Cyrillic initially was developed by the two Moravian Slavs specially for the Slavs. It was partly based on old Glagolitsa alphabet of the Slavs and included 42 letters that were very rational for the Slavic dialects - one letter = one sound. Later the so called Mediaeval Greek (Barbaric) also used Cyrillic for their 24-letter alphabet.

For 400 years during the Ottomans Serbs used this letters and it helped them save the language of their glorious ancestors about whom Serbs hate to know anything. "Ancient" Latin called Barbarian was based on our Cyrillic ...

Then in 19 century traitor Vuk Karadjic sponsored by Austrians used traditional Russophobe trick WRITE WHAT YOU HEAR and like other reformed Slavic languages Serbian was distanced from mother Russia.

Attempt to impose Latin was also successful as you all know. It opened doors for the Catholic culture and belief penetrate here. As a result Bulgarian/Macedon (who refused from serious reforms) is much closer to the Russian now. Meanwhile during Napoleon Wars when out 4-th (Danube) Army was deployed on the Balkans it spoke the same language as the local Slavs.

So I hate both Vuk Karadjic and his arificial and irrational alphabet. Sooner or later Serbs will have to do something about it. Why do you need two letters for Cyrillic "Ч" sound or one "C" letter for several different sounds or two letters for one sound ect.
