Interesting, there are also rumors about Marshal Tito who may not even been Croatian/Slovenian. Nobody could recognize his accent from any region in the former Yugoslavia. Regardless, Ante Pavelic was protected by the Catholic Church through the ratlines led by Krunoslav Draganovic.

My father served in the Yugoslav military from 1945 to 1948 in Macedonia and Kosovo. Tito arrived in Skopje in 1948. This man could barely speak the language. It was obvious that he was double.
If you can get a copy of the Ratlines by Mark Arons and John Loftus. It covers the Catholic Church involvement very well. Even better is another book Hitler’s Pope by John Cornwell
