Chairman of the European Parliament's Delegation for South East Europe Eduard Kukan has requested that visa liberalization for Kosovo is quickly prepared. He said this after the EP had lifted visa regime for citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania on Thursday. MEPs call for visa liberalization for Kosovo “The EU should not allow residents of Europe to be isolated. That is why I would welcome decision to soon propose a strategy and creation of visa-free regime for Kosovo as well,” Kukan told Slovak daily Hospodarske noviny. He has welcomed the EP’s support to visa liberalization for Bosnian and Albanian citizens. “Freedom of movement is one of the most important freedoms that EU is based on. I’m glad that we are expanding the principle to residents of Albania and Bosnia-Herzegovina as well,” Kukan stressed. Slovenian MEP supports removal of visa requirements EP rapporteur on visa liberalization for Albania and Bosnia-Herzegovina Tanja Fajon advocates opening up of prospects for visa liberalization for Kosovo, warning that there is a danger of Kosovo remaining a “black hole” in the Balkans. Fajon made the statement after the EP had supported EC’s assessment that the authorities in Sarajevo and Tirana had met the conditions for the Schengen “white list”, KiM Radio has reported.
