Vucic was in Moscow earlier in the day to finalize a deal on Serbia's acquisition of modern fighter planes and discuss other aspects of military economic and military education cooperation.

"After many years and decades, Serbia is boosting its defensive strength - which is of key significance for protection of our state and national interests - and it is continuing its proclaimed policy of military neutrality," a statement from the Serbian Foreign Ministry quoted Dacic as saying.

Only a strong Serbia can be respected, said Dacic.

"So far, no one has wanted, dared or been able to do this," Dacic concluded.
