Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu says Kosovo’s independence will be recognized by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan and other countries of the Islamic Conference. “We expect new recognitions to happen very shortly. We cannot give any dates. Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan, as well as other Islamic Conference countries have stated that the conditions have been met for recognition, and it is only a question of time,” Sejdiu said yesterday. Sejdiu: Islamic recognitions soon After returning from the U.S. where he, Prime Minister Hashim Thaci and foreign policy chief Skender Hyseni talked with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sejdiu said that it had been a historic visit. Sejdiu said that the talks in Washington had focused on the end of the UN mission’s work in Kosovo and the functionality of the EULEX mission. “We said that our request was that the UNMIK mission be ended as quickly as possible. Of course, we say that it was successful, they are not enemies of Kosovo and we say that honestly. Those are countries that participated in a common development mission in our country,” the president said. He surmised that Serbia would do everything it could to obstruct the functionality of the Kosovo institutions, adding that the institutions in Kosovo trusted EULEX. Sejdiu said that "nothing could occur in Kosovo that was imposed against the will of the institutions and people" of the province. He said that "the same went for the six-point plan, which Kosovo rejects".
