Croatia: Arrest warrant for ex-JNA chief

Croatian police allege the 82-year-old was responsible for atrocities committed by Yugoslav troops in several eastern Croatian towns during the war - particularly the city of Vukovar, which was reduced to rubble after three months of constant shelling.

"We expect Interpol to immediately post our request on their official sites so that member countries are obligated to arrest him if he is found on their territory," police spokesman Dubravko Novak.

Vukovar district court judge Nikola Besinski reopened the case against Kadijević, saying it had been neglected during the years by his predecessors.

Serbian media have reported that Kadijević has been living in Florida since 2003 and that he has consulted U.S.-led military forces in Iraq.
