German prosecutors say the killing of two U.S. servicemen in Frankfurt this week was the act of an individual and not a militant network, RFE/RL reports. The prosecutor in charge of the case, Rainer Griesbaum, said the suspected gunman was an "Islamist-influenced solo attacker" and that no evidence had been found he was directly connected to terrorist groups. He said the suspect had deliberately sought out servicemen bound for Afghanistan. He has been charged with two counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder, said RFE/RL. BBC today quotes German prosecutors as saying that more people may have died in the attack on a U.S. air force bus at Frankfurt Airport had the killer's gun not jammed. The alleged gunman, they add, has confessed, saying he wanted to kill Americans "as revenge for the American mission in Afghanistan". The scene of the shooting (Beta/AP)
