A 21-year-old student from Novi Sad has drowned early this morning in the Danube River near Kladovo, in eastern Serbia.

A 21-year-old student from Novi Sad has drowned early this morning in the Danube River near Kladovo, in eastern Serbia. The victim, identifies as D.D., was in Kladovo as part of a university excursion. Student drowns in Danube Police said that eyewitnesses saw him slip and fall from the quay into the river. He unsuccessfully tried to swim ashore. His friends' attempts to help also failed, as the victim soon disappeared. Local police and MUP Gendarmerie special divers' unit are searching the river in a bid to recover the victim's body.
