The newspapers are today smitten by the fact a high-level Russian delegation is in town. ALO—But first, this tabloid looks at other issues: a tavern argument, albeit reportedly over Kosovo, ended in tragedy in Kraljevo, "Man kills police officer because of Kosovo". Press: Russians are here, Kosovo turmoil "A sausage longer over two kilometers long", is a report, also on the front page, from a local sausage-fest in Vojvodina, that may not be to everyone's taste. "Race for USD 1.5mn", is about Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, and their participation in the Dubai tennis tournament. BLIC—Medvedev, this time Vladimir Putin's biographer, not his anointed heir, told the daily that the recent Djindjic comments, heard on Russian television, and seen as scandalous in Serbia, do not reflect an official line: "Moscow not behind Russian TV report", Roy Medvedev is quoted on the front page. "Boy survives 25,000 volt electric shock", is about an incident at the Novi Sad railway station yesterday. BORBA—"Return justice to the world," is about warnings Belgrade and Moscow have been busy sending to Washington over the Kosovo crisis. "Medvedev in Belgrade", reports on the high level visit today, as First Deputy Premier Dmitry Medvedev and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived to Belgrade. VECERNJE NOVOSTI—"Kosovo defense in Diaspora too", is about numerous protests Serbs and their supporters are organizing in Europe and North America. "Medvedev and Lavrov arrive in Belgrade", announces the visit by the man that will likely become Russia's next president come Sunday. GAZETA—"Dog attacked Jocic's driver", the paper speculates about the cause of the car crash that left Interior Minister Dragan Jocic with serious spinal injuries. GLAS JAVNOSTI—The daily is looking for any sign of possible conflict that Russia may be engaged in over Kosovo: "'Border' as intervention cause". "Mysterious death of Zoran Vujovic", the front page says, in a headline to an article looking into the circumstances of the Thursday death at the burned U.S. embassy in Belgrade. With the turmoil and rising tension in the country, the news that legendary Spanish opera star Jose Carreras was in Belgrade escaped the attention of many. But the paper was there and dubs his concert a "triumph": "After the triumph, dinner in Skadarlija". DANAS—"Medvedev to talk to Tadic and Kostinica", the front page announces. "Loans from EUR 15,000 to 30,000", is about the financial support Serb entrepreneurs in Kosovo will be granted. A strongly-worded interview given by U.S. Ambassador Cameron Munter yesterday is reported under a mild headline: "U.S. programs will not be halted". KURIR—"Berets want to go to Kosovo", the tabloid turns to reporting comments made by the wives of the members of the disbanded Special Operations Unit, JSO, also known as the Red Berets. The men are now serving time, after being found guilty of the Djindjic murder, and a number of other serious crimes. As for Infrastructure Minister Velimir Ilic, he had this to say: "We'll recognize Texas". POLITIKA—"UNMIK loses authority", says a front page headline. "Kostunica: U.S. must annul decision", quotes the prime minister's statement yesterday. "Medvedev and Lavrov today with Serbian top", announces the visit today. PRESS—The tabloid took to interviewing Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic: "Citizens to pay for burned embassies". As for the possible partition of the province, it is reported under, "Albanians run away from the north of Kosovo".
