Bosnia-Herzegovina Chief Prosecutor Milorad Barasanin has stated that the investigation of the Dobrovoljacka Street case will be finished by midyear. One of the suspects in the case is retired Bosnian Army General Jovan Divjak who was released from custody in Austria yesterday after he had been arrested on the Serbian warrant. Investigation against Divjak in Bosnia “The investigation against Divjak, who should be extradited to Bosnia-Herzegovina, is conducted by the Bosnia-Herzegovina Prosecution,” Barasanin said, adding that the investigation was also being conducted against several other persons. The Bosnian chief prosecutor told Bijeljina-based BN TV that he did not want to reveal the names of the other suspects in the Dobrovoljacka Street case, explaining that the public had already known that and that he did not want to reveal any names until the prosecution’s team made a decision. He has confirmed that the Bosnia-Herzegovina Prosecution filed a valid extradition request to the Bosnian Justice Ministry as soon as it learned that Divjak was arrested. “Those who are playing some kind of game behind the scene must clearly say why they are doing it. They are saying now that the request is incomplete and asking for his certificate of citizenship. However, it is clear that Divjak has Bosnia-Herzegovina’s passport. The one who issued him the passport needed to determine and give him Bosnia-Herzegovina’s citizenship,” Barasanin pointed out. The retired Bosnian general was arrested at Vienna airport on March 3 on the Serbian warrant on charges of war crime in Dobrovoljacka Street in May 1992. He was released on EUR 500,000 bail yesterday. Bosnia-Herzegovina today filed a request for Divjak's extradition. Jovan Divjak (slobodnaevropa.org)
