Former Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister Damir Polancec has been detained by police, reports said. Polancec was arrested in his home in the town of Koprivnica, and then brought to Zagreb for questioning. Former Croat deputy PM arrested Polancec is suspected involvement in the so-called Spice scandal. The case is investigating managers of the Koprivnica-based Podravka food manufacturer, who allegedly tried to take over the company by trading shares and taking out loans. Polancec resigned from the Croatian government after police arrested several members of the Podravka management team.
