Montenegrin PM Milo Djukanovuc says his government is not engaged in "assessing" property gained through organized crime. This, he explained in Podgorica, is because such activity on the part of his cabinet would be unconstitutional. Cigarette "transit" was legal, says Djukanovic He also repeated that the 1990s "cigarette transit" through Montenegro was done "in line with the laws of that time". Djukanovic rejected claims that Montenegro had become a safe haven for criminals. "The transit job was done in line with Yugoslav and Montenegrin laws of the time. All the income that the state planned to collect from that job was registered and paid to the treasury of the state of Montenegro," he was quoted as saying.
