Orthodox believers in Montenegro have received two Easter messages. One came from the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) in Montenegro, Amfilohija, and the other from the head of the rival Montenegrin Orthodox Church (CPC), Mihailo. Rival Montenegrin Churches send Easter messages Amfilohije told worshippers that they should consolidate and prove their faith in Christ’s resurrection, and not give into “necrophilia.” He stressed that one should strengthen one’s faith in the general resurrection of the dead through Christ’s Resurrection. Meanwhile, the head of the unrecognized Montenegrin Orthodox Church called on worshippers to always be “in love, peace and harmony, to speak the truth and do good and justice to one another.” “Respect and live in harmony with our Christian brothers of the Catholic faith, as well as with those who worship Islam and other faiths,” Mihailo beseeched. He called on priests to “wrap the Montenegrin people around their Montenegrin Orthodox Church.” Representatives of the Montenegrin authorities and opposition sent their Easter greetings to various recipients, some to the SPC, some to the CPC, and others to “all Orthodox believers” without mentioning any single church.
