Adviser denies rift between president and PM

"Excellent results have been achieved, that's what matters, while all that is negative and that accompanies the results achieved by the president, those achieved by the premier, is much less important," she told the TV Pink broadcaster on Monday.

According to the adviser, the two officials "stand together in citizens' perception" and their approval ratings rise or fall in the same manner at the same time. For this reason, Pak-Stankovic explained, "attacks on President Nikolic practically also bring down the prime minister."

Furthermore - "the credibility of the whole state is being brought down" when the president is targeted, she said, and mentioned "a nice event held on Saturday when the president was declared a protector of the European Academy, that was ridiculed and presented in a pejorative and ugly way."

The adviser also said that "different sorts of untruths are written every day about President Nikolic."

Pak-Stankovic mentioned a headline from Monday's issue of the tabloid Kurir that read, "President in a panic: Nikolic bringing down Vucic's law to hide his fortune!", and said, "Kurir most certainly cannot know how the president feels, whether he's panicking or not."
