Vučić and Putin "agree on gas debt payment model"

Putin "accepted Vučić's request for a cheaper gas supply for three large Serbian companies," the statement added.

Vučić and Putin "agreed to stay in touch regularly so they could address all issues of mutual interest in the spirit of partnership and friendship."

The Russian president's office said after the conversation that it took place on the initiative of the Serbian side, and that "the leaders discussed the course of implementation of agreements reached within the framework of the Russian President’s visit to Serbia on October 16."

This comes after the media reported last week Russia's gas supplies to Serbia had been decreased by 28 percent, after Vučić, during his recent meeting in Belgrade with Putin, "refused to guarantee Serbia would pay its debt of USD 200 million by March."

Vučić later told reporters that Serbia "recognizes its debt" and "could pay 100 million, but would find paying back 200 million at once or by March too great a burden."
