Energy and Mining Minister Petar Skundric says that there is enough natural gas for heating in Serbia, and that the energy system in the country in stable. "Gas has reached all distributive centers and the remote heating systems, and a large majority of individual consumers," he told reporters in Belgrade on Saturday ahead of a meeting of the government's crisis HQ. Crisis HQ says energy system stable Skundric also said that there is not enough gas for the industry, and that once Russia resumes with its deliveries, it will take between 12 and 24 hours for the new amounts of this fuel to reach Serbia. Meanwhile, the crisis HQ chief Nikola Rajakovic says that the country's electric power consumption is breaking all records, expected to reach some 150 million kilowatt hours per day. But, he explained, Serbia's power grid system is stable, and there will be no power cuts. State Secretary with the Energy and Mining Ministry Radivoj Milanovic added that Serbia's Kolubara and Kostolac coalmines respectively deliver 80,000-105,000, and 30,000-50,000 tons of coal each day. "We have enough coal to put production to the maximum in our power plants, and we also break new records daily when it comes to electric energy production," said Milanovic. Earlier today, Srbijagas Director Dusan Bajatovic said Serbia is "the only country in the region that managed to secure gas for users", helping Bosnia along the way. The head of the public natural gas company revealed on Saturday that 4.7 million cubic meters of gas are continuously arriving from Germany and that this, "coupled with domestic reserves", will ensure energy for those heating plants that cannot switch to other fuels. "Unfortunately, Serbia is the only country that has managed to secure fuels for delivery of heating energy, Greece, Bulgaria have not… this speaks about the reputation of the government and of Serbia," Bajatovic, an SPS official, told the state-run RTS television. According to him, after the pipelines have been filled with Hungarian and German deliveries, and after a deal has been made on gas transport between Russia and Ukraine, 12 to 24 hours will pass before this fuel reaches Serbia. "The gas pipelines are full 80 to 100 percent of their capacity," Bajatovic added. Meanwhile, heating has stabilized in apartments in Belgrade and Subotica this morning. Petar Skundric (FoNet)
