French and Czech ambassadors and European Commission officials met with leaders of the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) Tomislav Nikolic and Aleksandar Vucic. Nikolic – until this fall Vojislav Seselj's number two at the top of the Radical (SRS) hierarchy – said on Monday that the meeting represented the first possibility for his new party to present its stances to officials of the European Union, adding that the encounter was a sign that normal relations can be maintained between the SNS and EU officials. Ambassadors meet SNS officials Nikolic and his deputy Vucic met with a delegation of the European troika—French ambassador Jean-Francois Terral, Czech ambassador Hana Hubackova and European Commission delegation Chief Josep Lloveras. “I think that this is a sign that in Serbia one can deal with politics normally, protect her vital national interests, talk about the fact that the entire world is interesting to Serbia, especially the East, where there are three countries in expansion, India, China and Russia, even Brazil,” he said. “But at the same time, we want to cooperate with the EU, to be members under certain conditions, which is a great deal different from what you heard from the party in which were earlier,” Nikolic said.
