Rašković-Ivić dubbed Russian support for Serbia “of historical importance.”

Rašković-Ivić, who is visiting Moscow at the invitation of the Russian Duma, along with Kosovo Economic Team head Nenad Popović and local governance minister Zoran Lončar, said the Serbian authorities’ message was that the country was “fully prepared to continue Kosovo negotiations within the United Nations,” the statement said.

According to her, Serbia also supports the involvement of the Contact Group in the Kosovo negotiating process.

Boris Gryzlov said after the meeting that Kosovo talks should continue and “last as long as necessary,” adding that the solution “accepted by Belgrade should be supported.”

The situation in Kosovo and Ahtisaari’s actions arouse official Moscow’s concern, Gryzlov was quoted.

“Ahtisaari’s position was wrong from the very start. He completely ignored Belgrade’s position and focused on Kosovo gaining sovereignty.”

According to him, Kosovo’s independence would “affect separatist tendencies worldwide.”

The Serbian delegation is set to meet with the chairman of the international affairs committee of the Russian Duma and Russian deputy foreign minister Vladimir Titov, the government statement concluded.
