The memoranda will pertain to the construction of Black Sea round highway and Black Sea roads.

Ilić said the BSEC represented a region of some 350 million people spanning nearly 20 million square kilometers.

He said the Serbian government were supporting the projects, adding that Corridor X which will directly join the ring-highway was particularly important for Serbia.

BSEC Secretary General Leonidas Chrysanthopoulos said that the signing of the two memoranda in Belgrade will be a historic event promoting economic and tourism cooperation between the BSEC countries, noting that the highway will be over 7,000 kilometers long.

Ilić also said the government would this week decide whether the concession contract for the Horgoš-Požega highway would be signed with the Spanish-Austrian consortium or the second ranked PORR.

The deadline given to the FCC and Alpina Mayreder consortium for additional consultation expires tomorrow and if they failed to meet it, the government will invite the second bidder for talks, Ilić said.
